Alzarius I believe Cerulean sins is coming out in the beginning of April.

Thanks Shalimar. And my name is Alzrius. Why does everyone have trouble with that???

And its not the DnD rules that don't work for the setting, its the D20 rules in general not really working. I just don't think it would work with a level system, hit points, and classes.

Really? I thought it'd be perfect with a level system. You see Anita, and the other characters such as Jean-Claude and Richard, gaining power throughout the various books. In the first one Anita is just an animator with a few extra talents, but later on she can perform all sorts of neat tricks. What's more, she's always killing opponents, so the basis for gaining experience points is definately there. She just seems like her power is increasing in the d20-esque stepping model.

I really just think it would work better with the Story teller system. I don't really see how you could trully represent the speed and strength of all the suprenatural beings in d20.

Like, having them have better Strength or Dexterity scores? Because they do in d20. It all seems to fit pretty well to me.

I was actually not going to suggest giving them extra strength, I was going to suggest adding points of automatic Potence and Celerity when they get infected with the virus, or get fortitude when they beome human servants.

Anita's getting stronger can just as easily be represented with the storyteller system, and most of the rest of the mechanics are already fleshed out in the WoD, having different disciplines simulates the fact that no 2 vampire's ever have the same abilities.

Werewolfs, and really any lycanthropes can be easily done with Werewolf the apocolypse's rule set just certain things need to be changed. Just erase the Umbra and auspices and breeds. Almot all of the rest already fits. Keep the gifts, they represent the things they can do, like Richards ability to share blood and health etc.

We don't ever see humans getting tougher, the same amount of damage is fatal now as it was then. Its just that Anita can take more because she is getting a boost as a human servant she hasn't miraculously become tougher on her own, it came from somewhere else. Thats why I don't think the HP system works here. I think the best way to do it is use the chart that white-wolf uses. Everyone has 7 levels of damage, its just that the supernatural can soak the damage that they take. If they were still human the same amount of damage would take them out as any other person, its just there bodies can shrug it off.

hmmm... I think I'll write something up about this, and see what everyone thinks of it.

Yesssss, Fellow Anita Fans

Very great to find some Antia fans out there. I love each and everyone of the books and when it comes to the sex so for I think it stays a steady balance. I am up to Blue Moon as soon as I get the funds.

I am/was working on converting the Anitaverse to WoD, slow going so far, but it is a work in progress. I am a huge fan of Hunter The Reckoning and that is my main game with D20 Modern being 2nd (I don't buy a whole lot). I am working on the D20 core and if memory serves isn't there rules for Vampires and Weres in the core.

I really dont see (except for the health comment a few post back maybe) why D20 Modern couldn't handle it. I would say it is the best bet for a Suppliment. I really dont see White Wolf doing it with the D10 rules but anything is possible. But when it comes to health what about some bonus or extra HP would that work with the marks.

Shalimar, I have only read about the first 20 chapters in the first Gentry book, but I think that all of the court would be one heck of a setting.

Cerulean Sins release date last I heard offically is April 1.

On a total side note I read an interview a little bit back where she mentioned that she wouldnt be totally opposed to a Tv movie or something like that. Thoughts, Comments?

These days it seems like everything is up for some sort of TV movie or series. I just read on another board how someone had an "inside scoop" that a Ravenloft TV series is in pre-production (where it will most likely stay for eternity).

That said, assuming this could get itself off the ground, I think it'd make an ideal TV movie. It wouldnt have to be broken down like a series, or rely on the fickle powers that be in Hollywood. It would, of course, have to be one of the earlier adventures of Anita, since the later ones are too full of sex and horror for it to fly on anything but non-basic cable. I'd like to see it though if it could be made.

I have read the first five Anita Blake books and liked them. However, I can already detect the soap opera taking over where the action and evil monsters shouuld be. Am I right in thinking that it only gets worse from now on?

It varies. I thought Blue Moon seriously had this problem. Obsidian Butterfly was better. Then Narcissus in chains got worse again. Just IMHO though.

about time!

Big LKH fan here, and I've hooked at least 4 other people on to here work. I like the personal relationship aspect of the books (still waiting for Anita, Jean-Claude and Richard to sit down and have "the Talk"), but the sex level is starting to irk me. Sex should serve the story, not take the place of the story. Still willing to buy anything she writes though!
