Leif's 4E Adventuring in Encastulum [IC 01]

"Um shoes?" Rydan looks a little perplexed. At Firil's comment he starts to look about with concern. "Ambush you say?" He squints at the road ahead, "are beaver prone to ambush? Either way, a detour uphill seems prudent. Just don't go too far ahead, I think we should follow close enough to keep you in sight." He turns to the woman. "You agree Irinea? We should follow closely?" Rydan flexes his fingers and a sparkle of arcane energy dances briefly as he prepares to deal with any attack.

To The Quiet Harpy

Firil begins to stealthily creep along the small side trail to the right. [Roll a stealth check, please.]

Rydan and Irinea follow about 35 yards behind.

Firil's Stealthy Scouting

Firil's six-foot-tall, leather-armored, athletic frame stealthily moves up several steps in advance of his two fellows. The other two, Rydan and Irinea, look at each other for a moment, and when they look back to where Firil was, the ranger is gone.

Firil, meanwhile, having ducked behind a bush, gathers himself to proceed with his scouting mission. He slips under trees and through shrubberies fairly close to the path, but never on it. Firil continues in this manner for perhaps sixty yards, seeing little but squirrels, birds, and a lone rabbit, but then his ears prick up and he hears a voice. The voice speaks in a language that Firil does not understand, at once gutetteral, rough, bestial, yet whiny. Then he sees them: three rough, dark skinned humanoids standing barely four feet tall. The apparrent leader seems to be scolding the others, wagging his clawed finger at them and alternately brandishing what looks like a mace made from the skull of a humanoid (skull on a stick) in their direction.

When Firl vanishes, Rydan says, "I think that's our cue to follow. Let's be as quiet as we can." Rydan starts making his way up the side path hopefully with Irinea in tow. Unfortunately, the young mage has never been particularly stealthy...

OOC: Stealth Check (1d20+2=10)

Firil, hearing the footsteps of his companions, tenses and readies his axes, waiting for the perfect moment to catch his enemies unaware, in particular the creature that seems to be in charge, whilst having the support of his new friends.

To the Quiet Harpy -- Encounter - Revised Map

between the goblins jockeying for cover nd the PCs movement, I felt a new map was in order. Firil and Rydan have line-of-sight/effect to all three goblins, and Irinea does so to G1 and G3.

Seeing the Goblins ahead rouses Rydan's sense of self-preservation and he quickly raises his wand and unleashes his magic calling the shadows to grasp and tear at the three goblins.

[sblock=OOC]Grasping Shadows encounter power using wand of Accuracy Burst One at AD27 should catch all three Goblins. [roll0] [roll1] [roll2] [roll3] Note if at least two are hit each takes two extra damage thanks to Destructive Wizardry. Each creature hit is slowed until the end of Rydan's next turn. The shadows persist doing 6 points of Psychic Damage (4 Int plus +2 destructive wizardry if at least one has already been hit) and slow to any who enter the area until the end of Rydan's next turn.
