Leif's 4E Adventuring in Encastulum [OOC 1]

Scotley

I am looking over Rydan's sheet. I notice that they've officially changed the way magic missile works. I offer you an alternative form that you may use at will:

It's not an Auto-Hit, but Int vs. Ref, and you gain any implement bonus applicable.
Damage inflicted is 1d6+1+Int mod+implement enhancement mod if any.

So Rydan, if he gives up his auto-hit, will be +4 Attack (plus 1/2 Level) [more once per encounter when using Wand of Accuracy] and inflict 1d6+5 damage on a hit. If he gains a magic wand later, the attack and damage will improve accordingly.

So basically I would give up the auto-hit in favor of an extra 2.5 damage on average. Really, it may be better than that, since minimum damage under your system is equal to total damage in the RAW. So 5 in 6 times I do more damage, but have to make the hit. Hmmm, I think I'll bite, but let me consider just a bit.

Negin: Just a thought. Is there any chance our nomadic clans may have interacted over the years? Trade/conflict? Seems like an opportunity. Trade and co-operation seem a better start for us as a party!

Heh, I hadn't peeked at your background; I was going to keep it a surprise! But yes, I propose that we are connected and on good terms. I wasn't sure whether you meant that the King was launching an offensive alongside the Iron Clan or the enemy was; if the former, is it possible that Ignach was leading the main offensive, befriended your father after the conflict was over, and we grew up as friendly rivals?

I don't think you're quite geting it Dude -- it's not an either/or choice. You can decide during each casting whether you want an automatic hit for less damage, or whether you want to concentrate on walloping an enemy good but have to make a successful (touch) attack.

Everybody feel free to knit the PCs' backgrounds together as much as you want. Just go ahead and make my job easier if you must. *snif* I'll survive somehow.

Yes, by some coincidence, the unit of Trosellin that the Iron Wolf destroyed in retaliation for the kidnappings happened to be one of a pincer movement that were going to trap the King's Men (which your father would have been a part of). Friendly rivals whenever I visited the court would be brilliant. Also running through drills? (working together in defense/attack)
