Remember, the light did come on after Boone's death but would you open your door to a world where you knew there were crazies?

I didn't say that he should have opened the door. Only that he shouldn't be surprised that there are people on the island.

It didn't seem to me like he was surprised that there were people on the island. He seemed surprised that there were people on the island who weren't sick.

I'm wondering if that mysterious disease is even around anymore... the people have been on the island for 44 days, and noone is sick... maybe the germs died out...

Desmond seemed surprised that the world hadn't been destroyed, so I suspect he's pretty out of touch with some reality (or that the world they're in now has been destroyed).

That "clung to the boat" theory of Jin was my assumption, too.
I'm pretty sure I heard Jin calling out Sawyer's name. When Sawyer broke the surface in the begining it seemed like he looked towards where Jin was calling him from and turned to where Michael was screaming from. He did it a few times, like trying to decide who to help.

But this is the same guy that Jack met like a year ago, when he was fixing his soon to be wife. Either a twin or something else.

It could have been quite a bit longer than a year. I figured they were going out of their way to place it further in the past by giving Jack that goofy wig. I got the feeling (ballparking it here) that it was more like 3 or 4 years. That would allow time for her physical therapy, their courtship, their engagement, and their divorce and/or her death. I guess he could have shaved off his hair, had a whirlwind relationship, got married and had a falling-out with his dad in less time than that, but like I said, I'm guesstimating.

Dunno. They might have not come into contact with the vector yet, though I guess you would not build a shelter unless the disease was airborne or created benign carriers and stayed active for a long, long time?

As someone else noted, that was more than a year ago. My impression was that it was more like 5 years. Note tthat Jack's dad seemed very together and with-it, and that Jack listened seriously to his advice, indicating that those events weren't likely during the end of his father's career when he was boozing all the time and screwing things up. I'd think a minimum of 3 years for Jack to give up on his dad entirely.

You know I thought I was on to something with the name DHARMA and the numbers with the letter corresponding to the numbers but it falls apart after A or R. I want to put it out there for other though.

D= 4
H= 8
A= 1

now if the next letter was E you would get a 5 to make 15 or if R was the 3rd letter in the word 18 -3 would be 15 as well. Ahh mindless ramblings.

Yeah, I tried playing this "Simple Replacement Code" game, too. In fact, I tried ALL the combinations, but most of them are intensely uninteresting. The few that were possibly interesting might have been names (like CG NOVO, or PT ABIB).

One of the problems is, 16 and 42 work out to be the same letter, as do 4 and 108. That makes making anything out of any combination of 4-8-15-16-23-42 (with or without 108) pretty hard. Having 15 and 16 right next to each other doesn't help, either... :]
