Lost (09/28) spoilers

It could be that, my roommate said the same thing. The answer I have heard for that joke "Its ICE to meet you." I wasn't paying very close attention so it very well could be snowman and not sihloutte. (Sihloutte sounds more mysterious if you ask me.)

I hadn't seen the episode until tonight (Tivoed it) and didn't see this thread before so it's not like my mind was already listening for it.. but, honestly, I thought I heard "sihloutte" too.

If my brother hasn't deleted it from tivo yet, i'll listen to it again tomorrow... :)

I'm willing to bet that the individuals referred to by Jin as the "others" are the survivors from the rear of the plane. As seen in the season finale, "the others" have weapons far superior to the clubs shown at the end of this last episode.

It makes sense to me that they would have formed their own hierarchy, have had their own strange discoveries, and would view the sudden arrival of a stranger as a potential threat.

I heard snowman.

My guess is that they are going to stop doing flashbacks of the main cast soon. Instead they will splice in memories from the tail people's first month on the island.

Silhouette is a cool sounding word. ;)

But there is little pay off. They reveal all these character things that just reinforce what the characters are doing in the present. But they don't reinforce the odd behavior. And this season the flashbacks really haven't been all that interesting or reveal anything really new. Basically each week is a 10 minute show with 30 minutes of filler and commercials.
If you are looking for a big reveal every week you aren't going to get it. I get what I want from the show. I don't need an immediate payoff. The fun is getting there and I am enjoying the ride.

Reinforcing odd behavior? What odd behavior? The flashbacks help to set personality background for the character so we can contrast it with what is happening now. I like the fomula they are using. The show is all about subtleties - subtle visual clues, subtle audio clues and subtle acts of character. I also happen to appreciate the presentation.

So you can water it down any way you like - I don't think the show is doing much different than last year. Certainly the premise was newer then and perhaps the new car shine has worn off for yourself and others. That's ok, I'll still be watching and enjoying. :)

My wife and I noticed the emblem and rewound it (Tivo!). As you see in the screen capture, it's the same symbol that's all over the bunker.

Here's something else I noticed: Apollo candy bars. Those are the candy bars Kate snagged in the food locker. I thought I'd heard of them before so I looked them up. They haven't been around since the 60's! They were made because of the Apollo moon missions. It definitely fits in with the music and other 60's stuff in the bunker.

He probably did notice something, though- remember a light shone through it once when Locke was trying to break in.

I'd imagine that Desmond should have clued in around the time that Locke started pounding on the door with a trebuchet, but maybe he's a heavy sleeper. ;)

I think you made this reply just to say trebuchet. :D

Look, pal, if I need to say "trebuchet" then there are a lot of places I can say it without having to come to the Lost thread. ;)

That "clung to the boat" theory of Jin was my assumption, too.

The guys with clubs being the tail section: yup, my guess, too.

The shark: dude!

Speaking of dude: yeah, I think he's asking about Hurley, or at least the insane guy Hurley got the numbers (and maybe the joke) from.

Unmentioned thus far: Yes, I agree that the clock is minutes:seconds, BUT notice that when he reset it, it didn't start counting down. I suspect something triggers it -- maybe just starting up once a day -- and that Desmond (who seemed to think the whole world would be gone) has to reset it before it does something like sterilizing the place, yeah.

Remember, the light did come on after Boone's death but would you open your door to a world where you knew there were crazies?
