Lost 2-28-07

Pshaw. It's probably just Lone Star or Coors and they just changed the label.

But they must have put modified it somewhat so that it's not completely unpalatable after months (years?) of sitting around unrefrigerated on a tropical island. :)

Just didn't feel right about this episode. Kate and Sawyers return should have sparked a better plot, not an episode of happy days.

I don't get why people seem to be calling just about any episode that doesn't deal with what they want the episode to deal with a "filler".

The plot was advanced with this episode. People returned from the other island, informed the majority of it, and of where the others may live. People left to find where the others lived, so they could pursue a plan to get Jack back. They recruited the help of Rousseau, and told Rousseau about her daughter. The group found a car and got it working, and obtained a map. The group (at least some of them) are actively working on the curse over Hurley and Charlie. Jin is starting to learn english. Etc..

These are all advancements of the plot. They are not as major as you would like, and they are not apparently the plot points you would prefer they focus on. But these are plot advancements, and this was not a filler episode.

I buggers the imagination to think people carried tons of concrete, steel and equipment in all by hand through miles of jungle.
You do WHAT to the imagination? :eek:

Poor imagination....

I couldn't agree more and well said.

I'm perfectly happy with the pacing, myself. As for the mysteries and the island and all that - the show isn't about those things and never was. The show is character driven. Always was and will continue to be - even more so this season say the producers.

I am bad about it and should not do it, as I have said in prior threads, I have to keep telling myself that only 50 to 60 days have passed on the island. But that could be part of the problem, while only 3 months have gone by on the island I have invested three years into the show and as a viewer that is a long time.

This was a filler episode. Nothing moved, nothing was accomplished. ERrr, yeah they got a car working on a deserted jungle island. That should really help out a lot. The problem is that this whole episode seemed to be about getting the car or fixing the car. It would be more interesting if Rousseau played a part in something in the last few months but seeing her character didn't send any sparks in me.

i still watch this show, but Lost has moved to the bottom of the Tivo list. There just doesnt seem to be the excitement that was once there. You can blank out on lost and watch the last 10 minutes and you will have the "just" of the show as the first 45 minutes is nothing but filler crap.

Mostly Off topic: The guy who plays "Tom" has a bit part in the movie Wild Hogs as a violent biker. I guess that when Ethan went off the island, he was recruiting people. When Tom goes off the island, he torments middle aged men posing as bikers.

That wasn't what the episode was about. It was a humorous (as usual) character piece focused on Hurley.

But there was a reason behind it. That was what it was really about.

Rousseau and the rest, along with the Kate/Sawyer story was the B-plot. You may have wanted to see more but that is missing the point of the episode and one of the major themes of the show.

1. People returned from the other island;
2. Returners informed the majority of the Lostees about the other island;
3. Returners informed the majoiry of the Lostees about where the others seem to live on their island;
4. People left to find where the others lived;
5. People began formulating a plan to Jack back;
6. People recruited the help of Rousseau;
7. People told Rousseau about her daughter;
8. The group found a car and got it working;
9. The group obtained a map;
10. The group (at least some of them) are actively working on the curse over Hurley and Charlie;
11. Jin is starting to learn english

Each of those represent both movement and accomplishment.

I stand by what I said, but now I am directing it specifically to you. It was not the plot YOU wanted to see developed. It was not the movement and accomplishments YOU wanted to see more of. However, it WAS movement and accomplishment.

There just doesnt seem to be the excitement that was once there. You can blank out on lost and watch the last 10 minutes and you will have the "just" of the show as the first 45 minutes is nothing but filler crap.

Indeed, I think that is the key point. It's not that the episode didn't move and accomplish the things that the show is about, it's that it was not exciting for you, and the only things you were personally interested in happened at the end of the show.

Some of us, a lot of us in fact, find the rest of it exciting and interesting.
