Lost "Par Avion" 3/14/07

So, not only is Claire beautiful, she's by far the smartest of the Losties. I love Claire.

This episode was so much better than last week's, I think I started bleeding from my ears, Patch-style.

I'd like a little bit more time to ruminate on it, but I thought I'd start the thread anyway.

I actually liked last week's episode. Claire had a good idea with the birds. And it's nice that she's standing by Charlie.

I have to say, I was getting pretty despondent about the show in the last few weeks, but the last 2-3 episodes seem to be picking things up. The whole thing with Sayyid, Kate, Locke, and the Frenchwoman actually *doing* something is long overdue.

Kind of weird seeing the preview for next week. Jack is all buddy-buddy with them. Unless he's playing both sides or something, it sure seems like it didn't take him long to turn. Though, it seems a little too obvious, so there must be something more to the situation.

Something I'm curious about though...last week, the guy with the patch mentioned that the Dharma Initiative had arrived on the island, and been attacked by people who were there *before* them. The Others, based on what we've seen of Nathan etc. in the flashbacks of that blonde Others woman seem to indicate that the Others were openly recruiting for the island only in the last few years....unless Nathan and her were relatively new recruits. But the Dharma Initiative videos seem to indicate that the DI was there back in the 60's or 70's I'd think. Something with the timeline seems rather odd.

Interesting, the idea of Claire being Jack's half-sister. Of course, they'll probably never put two and two together. Have they ever showed Jack to be carrying around a photo of his father? Claire didn't get his name, so without a photo, and the coincidence of her seeing it, there's no way they'll ever realize. Thankfully she's not a romantic interest for Jack in the show :)

I liked this episode a lot. I think it has the best cliffhanger so far IMHO.

I think Jack was brainwashed. It is the only answer that I will accept. There is nothing "the Others" could possibly say that would make what they've done and how they've acted, alright and Jack to suddenly accept them. So they had to have brainwashed Jack.

I can't wait for next week. Locke episode! Locke vs. Ben, should be interesting. We finally get to find out why/how Locke was put into the wheelchair. WOOT!

I'm wondering why Locke has the C4....unless he's planning on using it on the submarine? Or is he playing some other game?

Brainwashing is something I thought of in relation to Jack. I'm hoping he's just pretending...but my preview for next week showed him helping to capture Kate for the Others....I can't see him doing that without brainwashing.

Unless he's stupid enough to believe they'll send him home...given it's been how long since blonde lady was supposed to go home, and she's been stuck the whole time?

This was hinted out last season and should not have come as a surprise.

80 days on the island. I don't think Jack is brainwashed, he is waiting, learning. Locke and the C4, what we have here is a Locke problem, the guy is doing everything in his power to stay on the island and removing all contact with the outside world.

We got confirmation Ben was not the great man, meaning we may see a new face or will it be a face we know? Mmmmm.

Found out about the list.

Good show this week.

I liked this episode, probably the best one since they came from break.
Definately didn't see Jack and Claire being related.

This episode was decent - it was indeed nice to see Sayid, Locke, and the Frenchwoman doing something. I also found those sonic devices to be pretty cool (and not entirely surprising, surrounding and protecting Dharma's old barracks).

Next week looks stupid, though. Jack is brainwashed in, what, a couple of days? And all buddy buddy with the Others? Pffft. The Others suck, and Jack actually helping them (if that proves to be true) sucks harder.

And good on Locke to push that dumbass Other into the device to see if it still works - Mrs. Arnwyn and I both said the same thing (test it on the Other to see if it's still functioning!) just before he did it. Awesome! It would be particularly nice in the next episode if Locke (and Sayid, and Kate, and the Frenchwoman) go on a rampage and wipe out a bunch of the Others, but that's only wishful thinking on my part.

In any case, I'm not really looking forward to next week's episode.

Last season, Ana-Lucia and Jack's father went to Australia, and Jack's dad tried to talk to someone in a house while it was raining and he was drunk. Ana-Lucia ended up stopping him. The only reason I saw that they might have shown that was if one of the Lostaways who was originally in Australia had a connection to Jack's dad.

See, and I thought Locke was particularly a douche to do that. He seemingly wants nothing but to ensure that he never has to leave the island. So he blows up one source of information and kills the other. You probably could've given Sayid some time alone with One-Eyed Willy (not torturing, of course; Sayid is *chuckle* though with torture *chuckle*), and if the writers of the show weren't scumbag drug dealers holding out on the good stuff, we might actually get some answers.

So for the sake of the mystery, yeah, good on Locke. Throw away information. But for the sake of logic, why the hell are Sayid and Kate keeping him around?

Oh, and also, it took, like, 10 seconds for the sonic wave thing to kill the guy. Why couldn't they just run through, make their Reflex saves, and lose some HP?
