Magic Item that grants EWP with 1 weapon

(I'm not sure if I should have posted this in House Rules...)

Rings of Proficiency

These rings always come in pairs. One ring is placed around an Exotic weapon's shaft/hilt/etc (the ring automatically adjusts to the size of the weapon, and can only be removed by the wearer of the second ring).

The weapon-ring attunes itself to the weapon, and after 3 days, the wearer of the wielder-ring may use the weapon as if he had the appropriate Exotic Weapon Proficiency feat.

Cost?

Thanks in advance.

It grants every exotic weapon proficiency possible, with a slight delay for swapping out. 50 to 100k I think. It's hard to judge items that grant feats, you know?

If it was made so that each ring was tied to a type of weapon, or maybe to a specific weapon, I'd say 10 to 20k gp.

The 'Proficient' ability in the A&EG has a +2 Market Price Modifier.

So the price scales with the bonus on the weapon, and it can't be swapped.

Magic items that give you the equivalent of a feat should be priced around 5,000gp to 10,000gp, based on discussion on various boards. However, be aware that walking down this path will allow high level characters with much gold to buy feats via magic items.

And should only be available for certain feats. Yes, we get that.
However, SWP/MWP and even EWP are low end feats. So low, in fact, that its debateable whether or not they are worth a feat slot at all.
CV goes one step farther and actually makes the feat into a spell, a FIRST LEVEL spell. Which seems to indicate that WotC is even re-thinking the WP featline.

IMHO, the rings should cost more than an item which grants one feat. A character must choose one type of weapon when he takes an exotic weapon proficiency feat. Your rings are basically more useful than any one feat. So I say at least 10,000 - 20,000 gp. But basically, I don't like to let players buy feats with money.

And, as Hypersmurf says, there is a weapon property which makes a weapon usable for everyone. If I were a DM, I will let player add that property to a weapon he found, if he want to use it without taking appropriate feat.

Its a first level spell in CV. Cost = 2kgp.

50-100?!?!

Your statement is nonsensical. You don't use the same guidelines for all magical items. An item granting a continuous +4 to strength would be, what, 2000gp * a 2nd level spell * 3rd level caster, or 12000? But by the guidelines in the DMG, a belt giant's strength +4 is 16k.

Besides, he didn't ask about a spell, he asked about an item to grant the feat. A ring of evasion is what, 25000 gps? A feat should be at least that. The ring has no casting time and doesn't wear off, either, unlike the spell you reference. If it were just a ring which granted a single exotic proficiency, then yeah, maybe 10 to 20k, but this item grants them all.

Err surely that should be a feat should be no more than that. Evasion is far superior to any feat I can think of.

I think a more sensible item would be a pair of rings that grant an EWP for a specific weapon and, depending on the weapon, price it between 4 and 8k (lets face it a bastard sword really i'snt that superior to a longsword.)
