Making some changes in T13K

DMEntropy

First Post
There is a plan to make some changes here in T13K to stimulate activity and bring about more games being run. This will obviously benefit everyone involved in playing this setting. If you are interested in more gaming taking place here leave a quick note. If you are interested in helping with the reorganization include that in your note.

I will be checking this thread frequently to see who is out there and getting in contact with people. Let's get this setting up and running again to make it the vibrant and exciting gaming experience that it once was.

Something that might help open up T13K would be altering the forums' access/readability.......as it stands, only folks signed-in at EN World can see the forum or read it, and only folks who specifically join the Member/Player/DM/CM groups of T13K at the forum can actually post anything (far as I can remember anyhoo).

I'm not sure if I'll have the time to help with the reorganization or whatnot, but if it's not too time-consuming I may be able to do so.

I registered a while back, but didn't hear anything and couldn't figure out how to actually get started in anything... is that simply because things have been, well, mostly quiet around here?

Also, something I noticed: the rules say you allow Hathrans as a PrC, but you don't allow the Ethran feat. You need the Ethran feat to qualify for the Hathran PrC....

Hrm. Where's it say you can become a Hathran, BTW? I don't recall myself, but in any case, the individual DM can allow anything in the campaign that he or she is OK with, it's just that other DMs might not allow some such options for players entering or transferring to their game.

Axegrrl, DM Entropy might be restarting his Kinrisar campaign soon, while DM Renfield is trying to organize a play-by-post campaign, though both DMs' preparations are going a bit slowly at the moment, but should pick up soon. For More Than Glory might take in one more player, but at the moment I'm not sure if two of the maybe-joiners will actually be joining or not; if not, there's definitely room for one more.

I do hope some of the founders will rejoin us soon and resume DMing.

That would be nice getting some of the founders back in the loop. Alas if I recall most were having a lot of interruptions with that accursed thing called life. My PbP is strictly in the works right now as I am a thousand or so miles from home and my source books. I should have and actual game post up within a week from friday. *crosses fingers*

Are there any other players out there besides Axegrrl? If so, please let us know by leaving a message here. It will help us in devising a plan to proceed from here.

I'm alive and kicking.

As for my two cents, many of your current players are anxiously awaiting the Setting Guide (since last winter or so).

Without DMs running continuing, consistent campaigns, interested players will lose interest quick. I was lucky, Emiricol was already my DM in another setting and I followed him here. Since Em's going on sabattical, the For More Than Glory campaign has floundered, but survived with rotating DMs. I guess the point would be: although one-shotters have their place, you really need to attract and keep good, consistant and dedicated DMs to keep the players interested.

Finally, if the players in the campaigns feel that what they do really affects the setting, all the better. That is one thing, other than consistency, that attracted me to T13K. Both attributes have waned and I think the interest has waned with them.

Alright, that was probably three cents.....sorry

I agree about the setting guide. Progress on that is glacial at the moment. But it is progress. My time has also been limited just like Emiricol's has been.

Does anyone else have an opinion or suggestion?

My biggest suggestion is for people who want to play in an online environment to also dediciate some time to DM'ing a game every now and then. The biggest limitation that we encountered was too few DM's running games, even inconsistently.

Round Robin DMing has been what has kept For More Than Glory alive frankly. I wouldn't recommend it for every bunch of players (some folks just shouldn't DM), but if there are players that also DM, a Round Robin campaign can work.

For my part, I used to DM back in 1E (I know, showing my age) and a little in 2E. I'm fairly new to 3.5 so I'm not too sure how comfortable I would be DMing. But hey, you don't know where I live, so I guess I'm fairly safe from disgruntled players...;-)

Another option might be to have campaigns that have multiple DMs so that more players can play/campaign and the other DMs can take up the slack while one has RL problems. That way, since all the DMs are developing the plot at the same time, it is easy to step in where necessary. A war might be an example of this sort of campaign where each DM is handling a certain group and members could move freely within each of the groups as needed. The ability to have multiple rooms open on one server makes this easier. The DMs could even have characters if they wished, although it would be best they be DMed by the other DMs. Just an untried idea that just popped into this greying skull.
