Okay, I do still not understand your original post. What was the point of the nitpicking cause I still don't see where I, or anyone else, said anything in error.

and i didnt call them spider-woman. i specifically said 4+2. 4 spider-womans, 1 arana, 1 spider-girl.

madame webb doesnt dress up in a costume with a spider motif and fight crime, at least not in any book i've read.
the first 3 with the name spider-woman all dressed in a spider-motif and fought crime.
the 4th spider-woman was a bad guy, and thus fought spider-man.
spider-girl and arana both dress in spider motifs and fight crime.
4 spider-women, 2 others who could easily be mistaken for spider-women.

the nitpick was a correction of Jessica Drake to Jessica Drew. Jamdin said it and you quoted it. I called it a nitpick because it is a very minor correction. I capitalized it in my original post to emphasize the difference.

then i responded to the question of how many spider-women there have been, by providing the official count of FOUR, plus the two others most often mistakenly identified as "spider-woman" which are spider-girl (girl/woman not a big difference) and arana.

In terms of Peter getting his 'heart's wish', I'm wondering if it's not guilt that she died. We've seen them play the guilt angle of Peter numerous times.

'Cause I read the comics of when she was hooked up with Peter. In those days, Spiderman comics always ended with a downer. So one ended with Peter and Gwen kissing and the narrator told the reader to savor it, since so few Spiderman stories ended happily.

Plus Gwen's death was as tragic as they come, and the follow up Spidey vs. Goblin battle kept the quality up there.

From there it was mostly downhill, though.

I refuse to blame Gwen for that. Those were supossed to be Peter's kids but someone at Marvel thought it would ruin Spider-man's character if he was suddenly a dad. Of course it was their fault for making her kids go from babies to adults in about 2 years.
