Masters of the Universe

Knightfall

World of Kulan DM
Okay, here's another new movie release set for 2006. IMDb lists John Woo as the Director.

Masters of the Universe (2009)
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0427340/

Old details . . .
Plot: He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe, goes against the evil Skeletor to save the planet Eternia and protect the secrets of Castle Grayskull.

IMDb already lists two cast members: Richard Burgi ("Desperate Housewives") as King Randor and John Glover ("Smallville") as Skeletor.
. . . likely out-of-date.

Cheers!

Why is it that John Woo's name has been attached to pretty much every "high-geek 80s" adaptation? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Metroid, now this...

Demiurge out.

Just let it be better than the first one, that's all I ask. Though with the Woo at the helm, I feel pretty confident it won't be that bad.

The first one wasn't that bad - it just wasn't He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. It rather resembled Jack Kirby's New Gods.

He man was excellent fodder for young imaginations, and I suspect that aspects have creeped into a number of D&D campaigns. Nonetheless, it was sort of an awkward mix of Sci Fi high tech and sword and sorcery - I'm not sure how one would make that work, outside of a cartoon.

Easy.

Just like the original mini-comics that came with the dol-... er... action figures, have the high-tech stuff be the artifacts of a prior age (not totally unlike Thundarr).
