little less spell? They have big spell list but as my experience, many of them are "Really ever I use it? I have some free space to learn it, but why?"So what are wizards losing to gain metamagic?
Isn't using metamagic "local creating new spell"? For me yes. And I play with 2 GMs and both use only things in books. No way to creat new spell (and I don't know how. Is somwhere any mechanic? Or just comparing with another spells on that lvl)I see it sense in either way.
Pro-Metamagic Sorcerer
- A wizard would not use meta magic for a more damaging fireball. They'd create a new fire spell.
I saw it too - give maneuversIts only a matter of game balance, design and overall character management.
With Logic we should have maneuver for all weapon user, meta magic for all caster, burning spell slot in smite effect for all caster, and so on.
As I see it, in 5e, sorcerers understand magic at an intuitive level, allowing them to twist and reshape their spells as needed. They are not hobbyists as you seem to suggest, but rather savants without much formal training but an overabundance of natural talent.
Wizards, on the other hand, know a lot of spells but lack the innate comprehension to alter those spells on the fly. A wizard who wants a different spell effect researches a new spell. Wizards have a great deal of formal training but lack the intuitive understanding that comes naturally to sorcerers.
If you want wizards to have access to metamagic along the lines of earlier editions, just make it a feat. Use the battle master feat as a guideline.
So you are just getting rid of a few spells that you think wizards don't use much? So wizards are effectively not losing anything to gain metamagic?little less spell? They have big spell list but as my experience, many of them are "Really ever I use it? I have some free space to learn it, but why?"
Because they have nothing, than bunch of spells? Abilities of wizard schools are just favor for me. Bladesinger and Warmages are a little more. They haven't more slots, or significant ability than know more spells. Sorcerers, Bards have almost same spelllist, same spellslot, but one is born and second "just sing" and both can do more things..So you are just getting rid of a few spells that you think wizards don't use much? Okay. I'm done with this thread.Because they have nothing, than bunch of spells? Abilities of wizard schools are just favor for me. Bladesinger and Warmages are a little more. That's pityOkay. I'm done with this thread.
yes - I forget it - Arcane recovery. Font of magic is doing almost same...In exchange for metamagic, I'd remove Arcane Recovery and give it 1/long rest per tier to the sorcerer, to give them the old ''more spell slots'' feature they add before and some more unique spell OR the ability to poach from any caster class.
