Min Max a Bastard, er, Sword

Claymore:
Etymology: Scottish Gaelic claidheamh mór, literally, great sword

Zweihander literally translates from German into "two-hander" or "great sword"

Bastard swords are big, but not that big :)

Cool.. very cool. Wonder where the "bastard" sword term comes from... any idea?

OP

It's neither a two handed nor a one handed sword, doesn't belong to either family, hence it's a bastard.

Wow. Pop in to check my thread and I get a history lesson. Not that I'm complaining. They say that learn something new every day.

Anyways, I have no idea what we'll be fighting. We're starting 1st level as scrubs in the local militia. Where is imporved whirlwind attack? I haven't exactly kept up with the 3.5 revisions thread, so I'll go check there.

I'd like to see him go down the Iaijutsu master route, simply 'cuz I think they're cool, but if anyone has suggestions for a different PrC or build, I'm open to suggestions.

ELH, Sir.

Improved Whirlwind Attack [epic]
You become a blurry whirlwind of attacks, striking out at all enemies near your position.
Prereq: Int 13, Dex 23, Dodge, Expertise, Mobility, Spring Attack, Whirlwind Attack
Benefit: As a full-round action, you may make one melee attack at your full base attack bonus against each opponent you threaten.

Pump your Dex, and you are there.

Problem: Unless you're 21st level, you can't take epic feats (to my knowledge).

Very true... last time I checked the book. If you look back, I was inquiring what his next feat might be (since 20th level is already mapped out).

No prob.

So far my progression looks like this:

1 Ftr1 Weapon Focus, Dodge, Mobility
2 Ftr2 Quick Draw
3 Ftr3 Power Attack
4 Ftr4 Weapon Specialization
5 Ftr5
6 Ftr6 Cleave, Improved Initiative
7 IM1
8 IM2
9 IM3 Expertise
10 IM4 Spring Attack
11 IM5
12 IM6 Superior Expertise
13 IM7
14 IM8
15 IM9 Great Cleave, Combat Reflexes
16 IM10
17 Ftr7
18 Ftr8 Expert Tactician, Greater Weapon Focus
19 Ftr9
20 Ftr10 Whirlwind Attack
While my epic progression looks like this:
21 Ftr11 Epic Weapon Focus
22 Ftr12 Greater Weapon Specialization
23 Ftr13
24 Ftr14 Epic Weapon Specialization, Improved Whirlwind Attack
25 Ftr15
26 Ftr16 Dire Charge
27 Ftr17 ???
28 Ftr18 ???
29 Ftr19
30 Ftr20 ???, ???

I have no idea what to take for feats above 26. I'm also thinking about running him as a Psychic Warrior instead of Fighter. Opinions?

Bingo. Psychic Warrior is an outstanding class addition to an epic level character. My Rgr11 / Wiz11 / PsyWar7 has added some dandy feats (Deep Impact) and powers (Metaphysical Weapon) to an already decent character, while not suffering the PsyWar BAB progression (epic instead).

Note that Deep Impact requires the Psionic Weapon feat.

Take Metaphysical Weapon and Call Weaponry psi powers and Penetrate Damage Reduction [epic], and you will NEVER be without a weapon that can hit DR /+5 (critical to players IMC).

Actually, I was thinking about starting him as a Psychic Warrior and multi-classing into the IM and Fighter later (after gaining Stand Still, Polymorph Other, and Animal Affinity).
