Minotaur Advancement Questions

Okay, questions.

I'm creating a Minotaur Deepwood Sniper, but I've got some questions.

1) Now, under the advancement rules, Monstrous Humanoids recieve BAB as a fighter. However, the Minotaur's attack is +9/+4.

Considering he has 6 HD (+6/+1), and has +4 Str, that would equate to +10/+5. Now, am I calculating this wrong? Or is his reduction to hit due to size?

2) Also, and this is more for balancing issues, How much can you adjust a creature's stats before it becomes time to adjust it's CR?

Minotaurs have a CR of 4, with Str 19, Dex 10, Con 15, Int 7, Wis 10, Cha 9. If I wanted to up his Int and Dex, how far could I up them without raising the CR? Mainly Int for Skills, to get him into the PrC faster, and Dex to make him a better archer.

3) Finally, if a Monster takes up a class, does it get a feat for being First level?

I'm Really tempted to change out the natural feats the Minotaur gets, because he won't have use for either, but I can't think of a good reason FOR that.

If I can pull this off, I'll throw him into the Rogue's Gallery.

It's size: -1 for being large.

I can't think of a good rule of thumb - it really depends. I'd give +1, perhaps, for PC instead of NPC stats.

No.

Go ahead, change the natural feat. It's OK.

Nono, I'm not creating him as a PC! He's purely an NPC. :)

Ergo, the reason why I'm looking for these examples. I'm just looking for skill info so he can qualify for the PrC, be a slightly smarter Minotaur, and be a decent archer.

This sucker's a henchman for a Green Dragon.

I would say there would be no adjustment for rolling his stats. Just use the tables in the DMG to determine them. Normally for important monsters I roll their abilities anyway and it doesn't seem to be overly unbalancing.

As for changing the natural feat I dunno ...

If it is a feat he is getting for being a 6HD Monsterous Humanoid, go ahead.

If it is just a feat a Minotaur gets for being a Minotaur, I would think you have to keep it.

I'm confused...

The Feat part of the writeup gives Minotaurs Greater Fortitude and Power Attack. Are those feats associated with the HD, or do you Add those?

Now that I wonder, is Great Fortitude added into their saves, in the statblock?

Great Fortitude and Power Attack are the two feats that the average minotaur chooses as he grows to maturity. Your's is obviously not average so they can be whatever you choose as long as he meets the prereq's.

I don't have my book, so I may be completely wrong. With that warning out of the way ...

As I remember it, each Type works pretty much as a class. It determines BAB, HD, Saves, and other such things.

Among that is the number of feats a monster has.

Some monsters have more feats than a creature of their HD/Type would otherwise get, and as such they are basicly like Bonus Feats for that monster.

I dunno how many feats a 6HD Monsterous Humanoid is supposed to have. If they have two, I would say you could pick whichever two you want. If they only have one, I would suggest Great Fortitude is something inherent to Minotaurs, and say pick something else for the second one.

Hope I could help a little. :D

Okay, I got it. :) Thanks.

Now, let's see...

A few more quick questions: Is there anywhere that mentions if you get a bonus to hit with a ranged weapon if you take a Full round action (Or is it Move Equiv)? I know there is one in the DWS PrC, but I ment in general.

If one were to create a Huge Mighty Composit bow, how much would it cost, per +? I'm trying to think of a good + to go for. Maybe +6 or +7.

An observation: Magic Weapon doesn't seem like a good thing for a DWS; by the time they're that level, they usually have a +1 bow. :D
