Ok, so a couple months back I posted pics of some of my miniature work. I more or less got shredded there. You guys really knocked me off my peg and made me realize that I had a lot of work to do to make my miniatures truly presentable.

I have improved many times over, learning new tricks and have gotten most of them back up to snuff. (I hope to get access to a camera soon, and show you the new work.)
But I gotta mention this recent occurence. I have a miniature of a female Litorian with a breastplate, cloak, and sword. She was among the mini's I stripped back to the bare metal. I reprimed her, and set about working on her. My work area is in the basement now with better light so I can see my mistakes before I decide Im done with it. I've learned a new level of patience while I work on her, doing a little, letting it dry, do a little more, etc.
Then the primer started to let go. I figured I could fudge it a bit. It was only the tip of her ear that had flaked, and since it was to be a display mini only, as long as no one touched it, I could paint over it very carefully and it would work out fine. Better than re-priming the whole thing as I had the skin tones and fur all worked up nicely.
That done, I turned toward the cloak. I always wanted to give her a yellow cloak, so I tried frankthedm's advice of whitecoating the area first. Than you frank, it works wonderfully. Especially when I thin the yellow with that future wash you reccomended too.
Did I mention I worked in the basement? Well the other day, I was blending her cloak. I set her down on my work table, and turned to get the next bottle of color I would need (I work on three or four at a time, so I was about to move on to give her time to dry). And I knocked her off the table. Onto concrete.
AAARRRGGGHHH!!!
Now I have lots of chips in the paint, lots of places where you can see the bare metal, and now she HAS to be reprimed.
*sigh*
Oh well, at least until I do, I have a test mini for my NMM, layering, and blending experiments...
