Monitor Duty (Freedomverse OOC)

Hehe, nice. It might be good having someone who can teleport without summoning a giant bolt of lightning. :)

The Thunder Road is not subtle.

I do have a few issues
1) I would prefer that the array named Precognition be changed to Forethought, and the names of the alts be adjusted accordingly.
2) I don't want Shed Light to be part of the array, it should be available no matter which of the attack powers are in use. Also, I want Shed Light being sustained to be a requirement for the fire damage (maybe for the Dazzle, too), to make that power unavailable if the light is countered or Prometheus is unable to sustain it (i.e., stunned).

Linking the powers is not an issue. However, it is not worth a limitation. Perhaps a Power Loss Complication.

Another question. I'm working on yet another character concept, sort of a man made of metal, sort of like T1000 from the terminator movies. One thing I want him to the able to do is absorb metal. He would then use this absorbed metal to fuel many of his powers, such as growth, which makes him stronger and more dense, or having a create ability so that he can use that extra metal to create objects. Or even, if he has enough extra metal in his metal reserves, he can even summon a duplicate of himself, though tat depletes him of all his metal reserves.

However, I'm trying to figure out how I would go about adding the ability to absorb the metal, and then using that to fuel his powers. Basically for every unit of metal he absorbs, he is able to add that to whatever his power is in the Array. So if he only has one unit of metal, then he can only have one rank of growth, up to his maximum. It's basically adding a limitation to all of the powers in that array, that he has to have enough metal reserves to use them. Some of the powers use up the metal, like regeneration which is activation and he uses the metal reserves that he has to regenerate himself if he gets damaged. Other powers, like growth, don't use up his reserves, he is just able to make himself bigger or more dense.

So for example, if he has 10 units of metal, then he automatically has 10 ranks of growth. In this case I'd rather the growth be more density than size, which has a precedent in the powerhouse template. So while he has these metal reserves, he has 10 growth. But let's say he gets damaged, and he needs to use a unit of metal in order to heal himself. Now he only has nine units of metal, so his growth is only at rank nine. Then let's say he needs to build himself a bridge to get across the cover, that takes a unit of metal. Now his growth is only eight. He would have just absorbed the bridge again, but the bad guy blew it up. Unless he can find a new source of metal, and absorb that to refill his Power, then he will just get weaker.

So basically his weakness is not having access to metal. He has other powers that don't have anything to do with how much metal he has at his reserves, such as being able to turn into liquid metal as well as being immune to various things, and I'd give him some decent fighting ability because none of his powers are actually damaging. But he becomes a powerhouse when he has access to metal.

So how do you think I should do something like that? I already have almost the entire character written up now. I just need to figure out how he absorbs metal.

P.s. I was actually thinking that he is made up of a certain kind of metal, like silver, though silver is pretty weak so I probably would rather do something like titanium. So then he has to absorb titanium in order to use his powers. In that case I would just give him a power that allowed him to transform metals into titanium. Of course he can only transform so much at a time, because transform is so limited, so it would be an emergency top off so to speak. I thought about making it gold, but pure gold is just so soft. I suppose I could just say he's an unusually strong alloy, but still.

Hehe, you're welcome. M&M 3rd edition likes to not sweat the small stuff. It tries to follow the 'comic booky' type rules, where things like 'what metal and how much' and 'how many bullets do you have' and 'what magic words must be said' only matter when drama demands that they matter. :)

Which is, I think, for this genre very good.

I suppose I could just say he has a reserve of metal equal to his Growth rank, and his Growth power, along with his metal reserve array, have a power loss complication where he must absorb metal to keep Growth active and to activate his Array Powers. The assumption can be that he always finds enough metal around him to recharge, unless the GM says otherwise, in which case he is weakened, and gets a hero point! That's much easier.
