Monster Manual III

Yep, that's what I would do too.

Only when restatting a monster (say by applying a template or giving class levels or merely giving it an elite ability score array) would I bother updating skill points, number of feats, spell-like abilities, etc.

Otherwise, damage reduction and energy resistances (usually halved) are all that needs to be changed to bring the critter in line with others.

Ok, so DR and resistances.

Anything else ?

Keep an eye out for re-named spells, they can bog down play when you're looking all over for a spell that doesn't exist/has been re-named. Look up the Spell-like abilities just before the game, though, and things should be smooth.

In the Eberron Campaign Setting they named some dinosaurs that will be in MM3:

Battletitan
Bloodstriker
Fleshraker
Swindlespitter

They didn't give a scientific name for these, but give a Common Name (and a Draconic Name) for all dinos from MM and MM2.

Yep- agreed. Monsters generally don't live long enough to worry about updating its number of skill points and stuff.

Now, if I were gonna use a monster of some sort as a reoccuring villan, I would probably update/convert everything, but for those that are just encountered and wiped out...probably not worth bothering with, like you said.

I stoped using MMII with 3.5. (snip)

I don't use MMII because it has far too much rubbish in it. There are far too many examples of poor design that leave me wishing that the WotC designers had referenced their own internal guidelines before producing this book.

FF was great; I hope MMIII is too.

Personally, I hope the MMIII has those periodic sidebars for the monsters that the FF had. Now those were a great idea!

Agreed. FF 3e was a helluva lot better than MM2 3e. I have used MM2 probably once and that's about it. I get a lot more use outta my FF that I ever will that book.
