There is a hippogrif. And vine blight=assassin vine
................................

Archfiends*
Barghest
Bodak
Dracolisk
Kirin
Quickling
Spriggan
Sylph
Nymph
Catoblepas

*With statblocks.

This assumes that green slime, yellow mold, etc are in the DMG.

I thought that the vine blight was a renamed vine horror.

(3E) Assasin vine is a large plant that can look like a plant, then constrict and entangle targets. As an attacking plant, it has blindsight.

(4E) Vine horror is an evil medium plant that can look like a plant, then constrict and entangle targets. As an attacking plant, it has blindsight.

(5E) Vine Blight is an evil medium plant that can look like a plant, then constrict and entangle targets. As an attacking plant, it has blindsight.

Note that all three have some reach/area affects, so can attack a wider area then a standard medium creature. If you had to differentiate the 3, vine horror is more mobile, and less dependent on looking like a plant to get prey then the assasin or blight.

EDIT: well, and the vine blight can speak...and this is linked to its new shiny lore...

Just the nightwalker for me, as it was my absolute favorite picture in the 3e MM. I wanted to run high levels just to put that guy in!

But 5e has a good showing, and gorgeous art. I am a satisfied customer.

Gorgon and Nymph were the big two I was surprised to see absent. It also would have been nice to see the Kirin, the other two Sphinxes and at least a couple of unique fiends. I've actually never used a demon prince or anything similar in a game, but they are still fun to read about.

The AD&D monster manual had a huge number of "sexy" female monsters, and these were all removed from 5e or given male counterparts in order to be more inclusive, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I'm glad the majority of them were removed, because they were redundant IMO, even if mythology is full of such things. I still wish there was a least one though, just for old times sake.

For the record, the gorgon and succubus (& incubus) are both in there.

I am extremely eager to see a 5e MM2 already, and really hope it includes ki-rin. They're a great powerful good monster. And I completely agree on unique fiends. The other sphinxes I could take or leave, but no two people have the exact same taste in monsters. :)

Well, for me...

- Aasimar
- Formian
- Lamia (the classic ones with snake under-torsos)
- PHOENIX

...aside from these, none seems to come to my mind apparently.

Neogi! I love 'em. Asuras would be nice... a Chaotic Good Celestial would help since they made all the Angels/Aasimon Lawful Good. Plus, there's only one type of Asura, so only one Stat block needed. I also like the psionic Psurlons...

Duuuh, I can't believe I forgot to mention my namesake, the ELDER BRAIN! Gotta have one of those, I anticipate awesome lair powers...

Besides my Astral Dreadnought post above;

I miss that rarer demon/devil from earlier eds that had like an Anubis head and multiple arms with heavy claws. I'm not sure why but both me and my players love that monster. :)
