D&D 5E More details on races/class creation after the DMG?

Would have posted this in the other thread, but it's been completely overtaken by the Eladrin debate...

Mike Mearls' recent AMA (summarized here and here by an awesome guy) included this exchange:

What are your thoughts on the homebrewing of classes? I would love to see some basic class templates or guidelines in the DMG. - TorchedBlack

We'll be tackling that in a future web column. We thought about covering it in the DMG, and did write up some material, but given how the game can evolve we didn't want to have outdated info in a core rulebook in a few years. I'm a big fan of homebrewing - it's part of what makes D&D great. - Mike Mearls

So for those (like me) that were nervous about the guidelines being a mere five pages, and about how the section on races was basically "compare it to what you already have and/or wing it", it looks like we might get more to work with sooner rather than later.

I see them treating homebrewing more as a loosely guided philosophy process than an hardcoded exact science one. So a general direction on the how's and why's and a few exemples is a good way to approach it IMO.
