[Mor's End] OOC: Questions and comments please post here

Wow, I just thought of this while making myself a sandwich.

I read that line and just started laughing. :D

About the pickles... I think that's an excellent idea... but the work is so dangerous that only the poor desperate Squatters will go out to the neighboring Swamp Entropie to do the work. About once or twice a month one of them never returns from the swamp... and they are presumed dead.

Was it one of those catoblepas or darktentacles... or was it something more sinister?

Ah but that's the thing, one good haul of cucumber/pickles is worth its weight in hammers (gold). From squatter to merchant lord with one crop.

Squatters consider it worth the risk.

And yes, its funny. All this inspired by eating a sandwich. :D

p.s. Swamp Entropie?!? I don't think so. No more inside jokes... Please!

Oh... you know I had to try to slip one in there. :D

How about these names instead... (all tongue in cheek)

Soggy Bottom
The Foul Fen
The Dire Mire
The Beastly Bog

p.s. OK... I'll freely admit... Soggy Bottom is actually starting to work its magic on me. ;)

I think we should be vague about that at this point. Let's say...fairly old.

So you mean around a thousand years old? Yeah, us europeans have a slightly different opinion of "fairly old" :D

Here's an important question: do we want any Venerable dwarves that have been around since the beginning of the city? If so, Mor's End should be no older than 400 or so. If it's younger than 300, there will almost certainly be some dwarves around that remember the founding of the city.

:p at Conaill!

But seriously, I like the idea of there being a handful of dwarves who remember the founding. 400 years is a long time in human years, but only at the outskirts of a lifetime for dwarves.

Hey we made front page of EN World. I'll post weekly on the progress of the city. For those that just joined us, welcome. Grab a stool. :)

I'm honored that someone's considered me for Minister of Guilds. If you want me, I'll be it. If someone else is wanting it, I'll wait for Minister of the Thieves Guild :)

Krug suggested a formula for this. 100 * (number of years EN World has been in existence). That comes out to 100*4 or 400 years. That might be too long for even dwarves. Perhaps 300 years is better.

I had originally envisioned an even shorter time span, but I now see the errors of my ways. 300 to 400 years sounds good. With the help of a little magic, luck, and a lot of caravan travel... Mor's End could have grown to its current size in that time. :)

For a city to grow that quickly... we probably need to reduce the number of raiding goblinoids in the area... if reducing them is a problem as far as overall storyline... perhaps the city developed some kind of way to ward them off... or maybe they even bought them off.

Either way... wards and contracts don't hold forever... and these foul creatures may come again.

So far, no one else has wanted to claim it. If you want to do it then post your request to the Administration thread. Krug will want to know how much time you can put in and how committed you are to being the Minister of Guilds.

Cheers!
