Mounted Leap Attack Question

First Post
Hey there,

Im planning to play a paladin lvl 14 with a Dire Lion Special Mount.
Now my idea was to wield a spiked chain and get the leap attack feat.
Now my DM and I dont know for sure if its possible to use the feat while mounted.

Hope anyone can help me with this.

I wouldn't allow it. The feat is kitted up to assume that it's your character doing the jumping, not the mount. Plus, it would be pretty insane if used in conjunction with spirited charge.

Ye thats why i wanted it :P but ive build the char different now, still the pala with mount etc but i took improved initiative...should prevent partymembers to stand in the way of my charge.

not to mention having a Valorous weapon...

I agree that Leap Attack should mean the actual character leaping, not his mount.

I know this is likely a silly question, but couldn't the Mount charge, and the PC then leaps OFF the mount and perform a charging Leap Attack?

Or does something make that impossible by RAW?

Disclaimer: I know little to NOTHING about mounted combat, but thinking about the image, it seems plausible.

I would think so, but it would then negate the benefits of being mounted in future rounds, and any benefits you'd get from charging with a lance.

but, it's a cool image of charging and leaping off the back of your mount to get into the thick of melee. Might be more barbarian-like than paladinesque, though.

Well, it might be enough to take out the person you lanced, depending how the damage stacked. I just noted someone earlier saying it'd be heinous damage... figured it'd be a single huge attack. It'd look bloody epic too.

I'd allow it if both mount and rider had leap attack, and possibly it counted as a trick (if mount is an animal). By RAW, I don't think you can, though.
