Two weeks ago my brother, Brian, won the Cantab Lounge Spring Poetry Slam semi-finals (Part 1)
Last week, the Spring Poetry Slam semi-finals (Part 2) slam came down to sudden death in the fourth round, and Sean Conlon came out with the win.
(Last month, when competing for the 5 member Cantab Lounge Poetry Slam Team, Brian came in 5th, Sean Conlon came in 6th.)
Last night the Spring Poetry Slam Championship worked out to be the Cantab's unofficial Rookie of the Year match, as it pitted rising slam stars Brian and Sean Conlon in a best-of-five head-to-head.
Round 1 went to Sean Conlon
Round 2 Sean Conlon had a higher score, but lost points for going over time, resulting in a Tie Score.
Round 2b went to Sean Conlon
Round 3 went to Brian
Round 4 went to Brian
Then we have the SUDDEN DEATH ROUND 5 which scored as a TIE (again)
Leading to a SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME ROUND where each poet is reading their 7th poem, when they only planned for 5.
Brian won!
(The prize was $50.00, and the chance to compete next week against the winner of the Winter Slam Champion (Who is also the captain of the Slam Team), in a best-of-seven head-to-head slam, where the prize is $100.00
