My first mini...

Ok, I just finished painting my first mini - and though I wish I'd used a different color in parts, I'm still inordinantly proud of myself. Since everyone around here says "huh?" when I show it off, figured I'd post it so I could boost my ego at least a little bit - as long as I don't look in any of the other mini threads around here. My god, they're fantastic... anyway...

Looks good! :D It's a bit blurry so details are hard to make out, but I like the color choices and the lines look pretty clean.

What's it standing on? Is that scenery? It's pretty cool, too.

Looks good, from what I can tell - any chance of getting a close-up pic posted? That's a drow, isn't it? I like the, ah, non-traditional skin color ;)

I wish I could manage a close-up, but the camera that took that's the best I've got, and that's high quality for the piece of junk, so... anyway, the background is actually a fountain that I got for Christmas, that's now taken up residence on my desk. I just wanted the mini in front of something other than a calculus book and a stapler, so...

And, Tewligan - it's actually a plastic orc, from the old Dragonstrike game... I raided it for minis I could practice on, before I decided to try one of my expensive pewter ones. *Wish* I had a drow...

Thanks for the comments, too, you guys.

Sunuva!

Your first mini and you're already ten times the painter I am! :D

Keep up the good work, Terr! :)

Terraism, it looks like your camera is focusing on the background. how about trying again with nothing else in the pic? (i'd really like to get a good look at your mini :) )

Ok, since I apparently can't change the attachment (drat!) here's a different version; the best I can manage with this camera, I think.

I recognized his Orciness, perhaps it was his brilliant green color that gave him away. ;-) I've never seen Dragonstrike so how big is the mini? He looks like about 15mm, judging by the amount of detail cast on him. One thing that I think you'll enjoy is the luxury of working on the current 25mm guys; they have so much more detail that they are a lot more fun to work with.

Dragonstrike was basically one of TSR's many "intro to D&D games." Yeah, I'd guess it's probably 15mm; I'm not sure, because I'm just starting to pay attention to mini's. They're smaller than the pewter ones, though, so I expect that's it. And I am definitely looking forward to the 25mm's, then - I just have so many of these, I wanted to get some practice before I jumped in.

A 15mm Orc should make for a good 25mm goblin, or perhaps kobold, against the 25mm figures, I would think... :)
