Need a fancy word for "cleric"

Hmm...lots of great suggestions. I like Divine Adept...pretty generic, but still evocative and kinda heroic sounding.

Supplicant is good, too, but sounds much more humble (which is not a not a bad thing for a low-level cleric). I'll just have to figure out which tone I want for the class.

Celebrim makes a good point about the problems with class level-titles. It's possible that someone could take this generalist cleric class through 20th level, and never switch into a specific Prestige Class. Kind of awkward to have a 20th-level acolyte...but an interesting concept. A cleric that never "went pro"...

Thanks, everyone, and keep the good ideas coming!

I have a similar theme in my world ; clerics usually follow a pantheon rather than an individual god. I'm not changing the class name, nor am I altering the standard rules much. The cleric simply chooses two domains from those present within his pantheon thereby keeping the rules simple, but achieving a similar basic effect.

Some cool sounding ones, both with origins in Roman politics, but they're pretty much just fantasy-sounding titles nowadays:

Archon
Praetor

My picks out of your list were "sin-hound" and "sky-pilot", but that's not QUITE the direction I was aiming for...:D

Personally, I think hammy made a terrible mistake. Those sound like euphemisms for homosexuality if ever I heard one!

I vote for Avatar. The "cleric" has opened himself up to channel divine energy, and is kind of a host for it. He is basically a representation of the divine. Sounds like an Avatar to me.
