Apparently my subconscious was so dissapointed by Buffy not being on last night, that it gave me a brand new episode in my sleep. I kid you not, it was pretty complete. Here are the plot points that I remember:
Buffy meets Spike in an abandoned warehouse with tall glass windows and ultra white floors. Somehow this is also my appartment.
Spike reiterates his love for Buffy, which is followed by a moment of silent anticipation.
As we wait for Buffy to say somethign important, Spike blurts out "I'm pregnant."
I imagine a commercial break would have fit in here but luckily, my dreams are commercial free.
This is where my memory fails me. But it was followed up by an extended dialogue between Buffy and Spike wherein Buffy comes to grips with the fact that she has caused an unexpected pregnancy and the responsibilities that come with it.
A shocker comes when Spike declares that Buffy is not actually the mother. After his earlier rejection by Buffy and subsequent restoration of his soul, Spike came to terms with his closet homosexuality and has been seeing male demons. (I imagine this might have a bit to do with "The Thief's Journal" by Jean Genet which I started reading last week.) The father -the other father, that is - is a mystery.
We transition into the middle part of the dream which is quite blurry, but eventually Buffy and Spike are seen walking down a street where they approach a suspicious looking vehicle being driven by an even more suspicious looking giant snake. Could this be the father?
A battle ensues which seems overly long and drawn out, with multiple escapes by the giant snake before it is finally defeated.
And the rest is history... ofcourse, I remembered far more right after I woke up and should have posted then but I'm never very good at motivating myself to write down dreams in the morning. My apologies.
