New Chronicles of Riddick trailer

Why two? This is already some kind of tie-in with Pitch Black so only one more movie is needed.
Yeah he mentioned that. He said he wanted Pitch Black to basically be "The Hobbit" with the Chronicles of Riddick trilogy being his "Lord of the Rings."

The visuals are great, and it actually looks like it might be a good enough action movie...

Although I'm worried about Vin Diesel. Does he ever do anything besides the scowl and the frown? How'll he ever be able to convey any facial expression with his eyebrows covered with goggles throughout most of the movie? ;)

Even if it's funny to see him acting opposite Judy Dench.

Clint Eastwood only had two or three different facial expressions, and he's had a long and successful film career. ;)

Riddick was the climax of coolness in Pitch Black, so this movie might very well be worthwhile! :)

While we disagree on the issue of psionics, we certainly see eye-to-eye here. :) Riddick MADE Pitch Black. If not for him, it would have sucked.

In fact, while I was sitting in the theater, I distinctly remember saying "If Riddick dies, I'm walking out. He is the only thing holding the movie together."

Since he was sorta the bad guy, I was surprised that, not only did he not die, he became the central character.

I'm really lookign forward to CoR and I hope it lives up to my expectations. I hope it goes into more detail about how/why Riddick is "more than human". He obviously has some abilities other than his "shined" eyees.

I'm not a Vin Diesel fan, but I'm diggin' the visual style presented in the trailer. Maybe I'll have to give him a second look.

I LOVED Pitch Black. The opening sequence alone was absolutely shattering (in the theatre, at any rate). And Diesel was great in it, though I thought everyone was pretty good. It was a good stupid monster movie and for what it was, worked great.

I enjoyed The Fast and the Furious, too. I was all ready to join the "Vin Diesel Fan Club" -- until I saw XXX. Which I hated.

And now... well, there's lots of cool-looking stuff in CoR, no kidding. And Judy Dench, Colm Feore and Karl Urban ("Caesar! Cupid! Eomer!") all make me want to go.

But am I the only one getting a little tired of the whole... Vin Diesel thing? Does anyone else think he's in danger of becoming a chariacture of himself?

Eastwood may have been restrained in his physicality, but there's no question his performance are full of emotional range and depth. Just watch A Fistfull of Dollars to see how far he can go with a limited "facial palette". Far further than Diesel was willing to go in XXX, I'll tell you that.

This is a litmus test film for me as far as Diesel goes. I'll DEFINITELY see it, but I want to see him put some chops on the line. I want some power from this guy because I think he's talented, I think he's smart and I think he's got charisma to burn.

But is he secure enough, good enough and brave enough to turn in a real performance and make me love him? Dunno yet.

I mean "love him" in that platonic, manly way, of course. :D
