D&D (2024) New D&D Edition's Player’s Handbook Alternate Art Cover Reveal

Polygon revealed the alternate art for the 2024 Player's Handbook.

"Illustrated by Wylie Beckert, the alt art cover of the Player’s Handbook (2024) features a party comprised of D&D’s four iconic classes — the fighter, the wizard, the cleric, and the rogue — all gathered around a friendly gold dragon, sharing tea. This gentle scene stands in stark contrast to the mainline Player’s Handbook (2024), which will have a bright, bold cover by Tyler Jacobsen with similar characters posed in the moments before striking a blow."

One thing to mention to all.those saying it's "drab" is that in all likelihood, the gold on the cover will be given a reflective metallic sheen (they wouldn't actually gild it, would they?) that photos won't pick up.

I like the standard cover, but I like this one much better! It might even get me to buy a copy.

The font on this alternate cover is very reminiscent of that on the original 1978 PHB, down to the yellow color.

The new core books are supposed to be packed with a bunch more art than the old ones too, which I’m very excited for.

I noticed that too after a few glances. Its decently disguised, but a bummer if its a fixture.

OK I like it better when it's larger on my desktop screen. However, I feel like the scene depicted is too "chill" for the cover. It feels more like an interior illustration to go with the resting mechanics or something. I feel the cover art should be more action-packed.

Hanging out and drinking tea with a dragon is not what first springs to my mind when I think of 'Dungeons & Dragons'. Fighting a dragon (potentially in a dungeon) on the other hand ...

They should use gold on gray instead of black on white as a UPC.
