D&D 5E New D&D WotC survey! On classes.

I can understand the desire... I just don't know how likely it is to get done. They intentionally didn't do the spell mechanics in a 4E style in the original 5E PHB because that seemed to be an issue for a lot of people. So I would be very surprised if they changed their mind on that if they actually decided to update anything to a 5.5.

At this point you probably just need to write up your own spellblocks for the spells you use if flipping and reading through the PHB is really that time consuming. Because hoping 5.5E does it doesn't seem fruitful.
I didnt care for 4E much. Im not looking for that much simplification but more of an in between, mechanics on top, narrative on bottom. I did exactly as you said and spent a good portion of the morning going through the PHB updating my PC, creating a spell canon and other abilities cheat sheets and making some cribs notes. We'll see how it goes, I'll post in the how was your last game thread afterwards.

Clerics are mostly fine - one of my favorite classes to run these days, actually.
Clerics have always been my favorite. I've found that in 5E I had trouble making the cleric PC I wanted with the domains available. But overall I dont have any major gripes with the class, with a little help from your DM they work well enough.

so just more subclasses to fill in the gaps then?

look the archetype has spread as far as my grind simulatores so clearly it is more than that.
I mean look it is even pink

Wait ....
WHICH ONE OF YOU IS PINK?

This is for a backwards-compatable-but-with-substantial-changes 5.5E or 6E book, in my opinion. Has Level Up 5E and other books, along with potentially Avatar's Kickstarter success, lit a fire under WoTC's ass?

I don't have much D&D experience but from reading quite a bit across various forms, reading features, and the 30 or so session experience I've had, I did make a lot of points on the Martial versus Spellcaster divide, what could make Spellcasters much better, and the issues with several PHB subclasses (in particular that Fighter needs Battlemaster in their base class and Champion needs to be dumped, Beserker is poor, etc.)

Exciting times ahead!

personally, I would rather re link them with gods so they make sense in how they have their power.
Anything would be better than the brown-paper-bag-generic, anything-goes, "fighter who went to church once" model that they have in the Player's Handbook. If they want to keep that model, that's fine...just make them a subclass of Fighter already and be done with it.

(I was being sarcastic about the alignment thing, in case you were wondering. I think alignment is the least of my issues with the paladin.)
