new domain: Life Please, I need a little help

Greg K

Legend
I am creating a life domain (listed below) for my campaign and can use some suggestions for a granted power and help on determining the sixth level spell for which I have two spells that I am considering (I am open to other suggestions). I can also use feedback on my idea for the first level domain spell .

The domain itself is for a god who determines whether it is someone's time to die (i.e., delay death) and whether or not someone dead should be allowed to return to life (e.g., raise dead and resurrection). He works in conjunction with both the goddess of mercy/healing (healing domain) and the god of the dead (repose domain). Thus, while his clerics can delay death and bring back from the dead as part of the domain, they do not receive cure and healing (i.e, heal, mass heal, etc.) as domain spells (of course, the clerics can still cast such spells by choosing them as part of their daily spells)

Note: The god is also the sun god so the sun domain already grants his clerics some ability for dealing with the undead.

Life Domain
Granted Power: ?
1 Detect Life ( a variant of Detect Undead that detects creatures other than constructs, elementals, outsiders, undead and oozes).
2 Status
3 Delay Death
4 Death Ward
5 Raise Dead
6 Undeath to Death or Anti-life Shell
7 Resurrection
8 Death Pact
9 True Resurrection

Thanks for any help.

From the description of the god, I would perhaps consider a special ability that allows the Cleric to determine wether a creature is to live or to die.
Maybe:
"Mark of Life and Death":
You gain the power of the Mark of Life and Death. Once per day, you can touch a single individual to determine wether it is to die or to live. If it is to live, all Conjuration (Healing) spells you cast on at +2 caster level. If it is to die, all Inflict Spells you cast on it are cast at +2 caster level. This effect lasts for one round per Cleric Level.
The decision wether it is to live or to die is made by the player (but "ingame" it is made by the God... And it can be a very temporary decision...)

Unfortuantely, this doesn't entirely fit a Life Domain alone.
I also wonder if there isn't already such a Domain to be found elsewhere (Complete Divine maybe)

For a stronger focus on Life, you could simply remove the "death" option from the power above.

Alternatives:
- Touch of Life:
You can touch a living creature (anything other than undead, construct, elemental or ooze) and heal it of 1 point of damage per Cleric Level. You may spread out this healing over multiple uses.
Alternatively, you can use it to grow Plants as per the Animal Growth Spell (Caster Level equal to your Cleric Level), but you can effect only a 5 ft square per Cleric Level for the overgrowth option or a 20 ft radius per Cleric Level for the Enrichment option (and the effect is centered on the square you touch). As with the healing option, you can spread out the uses.

- Aura of Life:
Any dying creature within a 10 ft radius around you is automatically stabilized.

I'd go with Undeath To Death as the 6th-level domain spell, I think.

Granted Power: Any time that you would be reduced to -10 hit points by damage or by failing to stabilize at negative hit points, divine forces may save you on the brink of death. There is a 40% chance of this granted power activating, and when it does, you are immediately restored to 0 hit points instead of falling to -10. The chance of activation is increased by 1% for each cleric level you possess.

How about the ability to use a turn undead attempt to stabalize all allies within a 60' burst from you as a free action. If you go to -1 to -9 you automaticly use said ability if you have any turn attemps left.

Or
When you cast spells to bring people back from the dead the effect is only a tempory level loss to the character that wears off over a month or when that character gains another level.
Or
Material cost for casting raise dead spells is waived once per month for this cleric.

Thanks guys.

I am going to go with Undeath to Death for the 6th level spell.

As for the granted domain abilitiy, I am not sure which idea, if any, I am going to use. However, I really do appreciate the suggestions.
