New gamer terminology

I came up with this today.

Coremonger (n.): A generalist player or DM who insists that Core D&D 3.x is the only D&D worth playing. S/he is terrified of products such as Unearthed Arcana, splatbooks/Complete series, or any book which could potentially open the game to much more interesting concepts or rulesets. The player/DM also flatly refuses to play in the same campaign as anyone who uses any rules other than Core, and berates the others for doing so.

Also, I am currently playing (yay!) a campaign which features my Halfling monk/rogue and a Grey elven Bard/Mage, who now refer to humans as "hairless orcs". Think about it.

One of my old friends from High School was/is a Coremonger! He insisted that 2e (and later 3e) were C R A P and that only the old stuff was worth playing. Oddly enough he never got to play... cause everybody played 2e (later 3e) and thus never invited his whininess over.

Yes. I predict that this thread will not end well (mainly because no thread dedicated to bashing people who one disagrees with ever ends well). :(

Addict (n.): One whose nose has fallen off due to the vigorous snorting of splatbooks and variant rulesets.

Er, or is that just me?

Drama Queen (n.): A player who mistakes a D&D session for a community theater production. All of their characters have long and detailed backstories, they often engage in long in-character discussions with NPCs and other PCs, they worry about doing anything out-of-character, and they never turn down the opportunity to express their disdain for "min-maxers" and "munchkins." Drama queens usually annoy those whom with whom they game (unless, of course, they're gaming with other drama queens).

Railroading (v.): Railroading is when a DM heavily restricts or eliminates any player control over the events of the campaign and forces the PCs down a pre-scripted path, similar to how a train has no control over where it goes, and can only follow where the railroad tracks take it.

*LOL* Dark Jezter @ Drama Queen.

Both my friend and I are both Drama, well, Kings. It is very difficult for us to get through modules as we like to spend lots of time talking to NPCs and making connections with them. In turn, Drama Queen/Kings are annoyed by to-the-point gamers (bash door, kill monster, take loot) and lone wolves.

So now we know what the snow in your name stands for?
