It would nice if the browsers technology played nicely with each other, but alas, no.

Well, not to be flip, but browser technology does play nicely with each other. Microsoft, however, has never felt the need to follow standards. They like to create their own standards and assume the rest of the world will climb aboard.

Quite. But with the 90% of the internet population using IE, what is the real standard anyway? It's certainly not the W3C specification.

It's the Chicken and the Egg. What came first -- the standards, or a dominant Microsoft pissing on them? :)

Not to split hairs, but worldwide, IE has about 85%, and in the US, 80%. In Canada, it has 78% while in the UK, 93%. At least in OneStat can be believed. [shrug] Clearly, Firefox has become much more popular than anyone would have guessed...and Netscape once held that lofty spot (and violated standards just as much). So IE's position is strong, but its not a given that it is untouchable. IE 7, when it comes out, my gain a lot of share back...or lose it. Only time will tell.

This, as much as anything else, makes me support the W3C standards as "true". The whole point of web apps is that they are not platform-specific. But, that's probably a conversation/rant for a different board.

Regardless, much appreciated! I hope you enjoy them!

Gracias. They've already exceeded my expectations twice, while my old host has had yet another outage just after I finished with them. Heck, I took advantage of the free Jabber server to get one of our players in Saturday nights game remotely, so that was pretty cool, too. ;)

Firefox is great and I love it, but most people still use IE for whatever reason.

I love the idea of published standards, but they are meaningless when not used. :uhoh:
