New Season of Alias

I've heard (can't remember where, though, so take it fwiw) that they aren't going to be doing anything with Rambaldi this season. Kind of sucks, if true.
I thought that was last season? There was very little Rambaldi in S4.

Apparently, it wasn't doing well in the ratings. I kept tuning in and all I saw was that stupid dance show. I was the angry, but then I accepted the fact that good shows keep getting cancelled on Fox.

Yeah, because most shows with 4 episodes shown on summer schedule are instant hits. :]

Sorry, a little bitterness coming out, there. I feel your pain, brothers and sisters. :) The first time I saw that show, I said, "Holy Crap! This is great!" Then I said, "Holy Crap! This is Fox! It's doomed!"

Nichols was great in Inside, and hopefully she'll turn out a stellar performance in Alias. However, the fans seeing Garner leave may be enough to kill it off no matter how good the plots or acting.

Um, wasn't all of the last arc Rimbaldi?
It had the big artifact and some Rambaldi in it but there wasn't anything to do with the Order or the big prophecies or anything. Yeah, there was the sister thing but I guess because it felt so weak that I didn't consider it a big part of the arc.

That is sad because the show rest on whether Ms. Garner wishes to come to work. The way I see her career may be going, despite that one flop at the theater, she'll end the series by season five.

How significant was it in the first season, which I still haven't seen?
The device shows up in the premeire and the final ep, IIRC. It's a big deal, but only independant to those eps, especially since it has always been a character driven show. I think some of the excitement is gone because it's hard to imagine the characters in any real danger the way the show is presented. It started off as a spy show disguised as a clever drama but it has lost much of the real drama. The threat of SD-6 being no more hurts.

The sister/prophecy thing is new to season 3/4. The older prophecies had more to do with Syd and her mom. I do have to say that despite the show's quality declining, I will still keep watching. I have to find out what Sloan found out in that temple at the end of S2. Damn lingering cliffhanger. I will be pissed if they don't address that. It was such a big deal and should still be effecting the show. It had to do with Jack, too. Argh!

I'm not convinced of this. She basically carries the show but the support characters (especially Jack & Sloan) are excellent. Now, if they simply replace Syd with the new female lead there could be a serious chemisty problem. But if they replace a healthy does of the cast as well and build it around the new character then it could work. But they would probably just be better off with a spin-off at that point or at least a title change.

I wouldn't mind seeing the show's focus shift to Jack for a while, actually. Nichols could be a co-star instead of the lead and then maybe when she's cut her teeth for a bit then give her the spotlight.
