New Star Trek Movie Coming From D&D Movie Creators

"Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home" would be a good example of Star Trek being seasoned with comedy. "Where can i find the nuklear wessels?"

It’s a comedy, and it’s my favourite Trek movie. It needs Wrath of Khan for the contrast though. If Trek was all TVH it wouldn’t work (for me).

It's like throwing in a "The Trouble with Tribbles" in the original series. Great episode, but maybe not great all the time. I am hoping we don't see another rehash of the original crew. Between the Kelvin movies and Strange New Worlds, I'm a little tapped out on new people playing the holy trinity of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy.

My big question here is where this new story would fit in the Trekverse. I also share @Morrus 's concern about tone. Trek can be a lot of things, but a new movie is going to set expectations for folks, and I don't personally think straight comedy is a good expectation. Hopefully it'll be more like Homecoming as has been suggested.
