Roger that!I'm not packing my chewing gum with socks. Seriously, I have expertise in stealth as it is. I scare everyone but just popping up when they don't hear me coming. Luckily for them my attack rolls are terrible.

It is really bad. Even basic stuff like encumbrance and travel pace seems to be handwaved now. My last hope is that th DMG will have something to say about that.I didn't have "d&d2024 would de-emphasize the Exploration Pillar even harder than 5e does" on my bingo card. And yet, here we are.
It's not like the 2014 stealth rules were better. WotC seems very stuck on making stealth into a "cloaking field" that is either powered up or deactivated, and you have to take active measures to power it up.The thread is about stealth and says you need to have cover of concealment to hide and gain the invisible condition. You lose the condition if you no longer meet the conditions to hide. I would just say that the spell grants you the full cover condition.
Honestly, it is things like this that mean we will stick with 2014.
They were way better. The DM determined when circumstances were appropriate to hide, and you explicitly couldn’t ever hide from a creature that could see you clearly. If circumstances were appropriate to hide, you’d make a stealth check, and you’d be hidden from any creatures with lower passive perception than the result. If a creature used the search action to try to find you, the result of your stealth roll was the DC for their perception check. That was basically perfect. It's not like the 2014 stealth rules were better. Actually, Find Traps is interesting due to its name. Does that suggest something about how the designers use the word "find"?I mean, it’s not called Locate Traps![]()
Yep. If invisible meant something specific, it would be defined in the rules. That it's not defined in the rules(that we know of) means that invisible = invisible condition.'It's up to the DM, because invisible means something specific'?
If invisible means something specific then how it works is not up to the DM.
sounds like basically the same thing the 2024 Hide action intends to describeThey were way better. The problem is that the bolded part isn’t actually stated in the rules text. The Invisible condition grants you certain benefits. Using Hide grants you those benefits by removing your presence from the awareness of particular individuals. The Invisibility spell grants you those benefits by making it impossible to actually see you.
The Invisibility spell grants you those benefits even if you're clanking around in full plate armor. The Hide action grants you those benefits as long as you're careful of your behavior, and you don't place yourself in a position to get specifically noticed.
Except that in the 2014 rules, not being seen is a requirement to become and remain hidden, and the effect of being hidden is that creatures you were hidden from didn’t know your location. In the 2024 rules, not being seen is the effect of becoming hidden, and the rules are silent on the matter of if creatures know your location.sounds like basically the same thing the 2024 Hide action intends to describe
I don’t know, to me this demonstrates that language is imprecise, not more.Overall, if we go by how Find Traps is named, "finding" you appears to be becoming definitely aware of your existence, with enough information for someone to put their hands on you with a little effort. It does not require being able to absolutely pinpoint you
