NG vs. N: Neutral Good Victorious!

Carl gets about 30 feet from the lawn and gets hit with a blast of cold for 2 points of damage, but fights off any other effects of the cold (rolled Will save 19).

Carl hits on his attack, but the individual blades of grass disperse, so the lawn takes no damage.

The lawn moves into Carl's space, biting for 2 more points of damage. Carl is at 5 HP.

Carl comes to his senses after two more rounds, but takes 1 point each round from hundreds of tiny grass blade cut. Carl missed on each attack. Carl is at 3 HP, and nauseated (natural 1 on Fort save). Because Carl's Constitution goes back down, he loses 4 HP and is at -1 HP and dying.

Next up for NG is a homunculus (MM). Your move, homunculus.

(hmm. from the NG viewing area, did it look like Carl did any damage at all to the funny grass thing?)

Homer homunculus steps in to 60N0E and flies up and over to 60N50E to observe the strange thing for a moment more, and wondering if it will be able to sense him from that height...

Homer flies to 90N90E+15" directly above the thing and sees if it responds.

If no response, next turn he'll drop down onto it and try to bite it.

No response. Your bite hits. It seems to maybe kill a few blades, but there are so many, the lawn seems to be unaffected.

Hundreds of blades of grass give you a nasty cut for 1 point of damage. Homer has 10 HP left.

Homer gives it one more bite and returns to the air over the thing.

Std: Bite
MEA: Rise to 90N90E+30"

If this bite doesn't seem to have any effect, Homer will wait out the draw.

The bite has no effect. In apparent response, a 5-foot radius burst of cold hits Homer, who takes 3 points of damage, but avoids any other effect of the burst (rolled 10 on Fort save). Homer has 7 HP left. The grass takes 6 points of damage from the cold, and has 14 HP left.

Homer hears the lawn in his mind, asking him to come down and rest on its nice, soft blades.

Your move, Homer. How high are you going to fly to try to force a draw?

Yikes! thinks Homer as the chill blast surrounds him, and he heads up and away from the thing.

Thanks to a high fly rate, Homer will "run" to 10N0E+110" next round. The next turn he'll pin himself into 0N0E+120". If the grass seems to be able to hit him with the cold there, he'll start using run actions to try to go from upper corner to upper corner and hope the grass can't keep up with him.

I just realized I misunderstood something. When Homer was at 90N90E + 30", I thought you meant 30 inches high (just barely hovering above), instead of 30 feet high (flashback to This is Spinal Tap and Stonehenge).

Homer never got hit with the cold blast, and the battle is a draw five rounds after Homer took the 1 point of damage.

Next up for NG: a pseudodragon (MM). You go first, Greybar, and the battle goes back to your control, Gansk.

hey, no problem.

Sammi flies in along the ground at 60N0E, then rises to 60N40E+40" to await his opponent. His scales shine in the light pleasantly, at least for spectators whose viewing appendages are acute enough to see the tiny dragon.
