Nimble 5e

I backed Nimble but I will admit it's hard for me to get excited about it in a year where games like Draw Steel and Daggerheart -- that both question basic assumptions about heroic fantasy roleplay and evolve in cool directions -- are getting released vs. games like Nimble and DC20 that both end up being someone's version of heavily house-ruled 5e.

But at least what I've seen is that Nimble has been successful at its goal of trimming things down whereas DC20 has become a clusterfuck of complexity for complexity's sake.

The foundry developer lost interest in building the foundry system. It's nearly done, but was supposed to be done two months ago.
I checked in on this because I was curious and happen to hang in the Discords where the devs do:

The Foundry release was just shipped Monday. The designer had a lot of core rules changes, so it took way longer than scoped, since they had to keep re-writing the code. People are misinterpreting them being done with the project and not wanting/able to be the maintainer of the system with the state of the Foundry system itself.
Official listing on Foundry will be in a couple of days, but they posted the link to do a manual install.

He literally posted in the discord it was delayed because he lost interest. I've been traveling, so I missed the release. I did check, the system is there, but not the data yet from what people are saying on discord, but I can't verify that yet.

Yep. Nimble would be my replacement d&do. Previously I was using Shadow of the Demon Lord, and while I love it's modularity and spell schools, it can still feel clunky. I work in a detail oriented environment, so playing a game with a tonne of rules and details doesn't feel like escapism to me, it just feels like more work.

So I prefer rules light systems. And Nimble seems just perfect for my heroic fantasy needs in that regards.

I too had hoped for DC20, but agree it's a train wreck.

What a Choad!!! Give me what you promised or give me my money back. This is pretty much what I suspected
To be clear this is talking about the foundry implementation, not the game.

I was never Promised foundry implementation and I don't care about it.

The game was refined up to about January due to playtesting and rebalancing. The end result should be a well balanced game.

I was never very optimistic about D&D24 but gave it a shot hoping that they made it a smoother system. Alas it was the opposite. So, we switched to Shadowdark. I was hoping to incorporate some aspects of Nimble 5E too, and I may still.

Ive read parts and browsed it some, but thought you could mix Shadowdark and Nimble 5E and have a fun game that isnt too bogged down in rules. What are youre thoughts?

I thought it was going to ship March 2025, that didn't happen.
No. Later than I would have liked but he has communicated the whole way along.

Part of it was due to delays at the printer he hadn't planned for and the print quality testing. But he's released every version on PDF to download on the way with a changelog in each update.

He's also done a stream explaining the reason behind each of his changes when he makes them.

I've backed a few projects before, and for a very small team project he's been a great example of communication with his base.
