I saw a little of one episode. It confirmed my belief that television is going to the dogs. :\

I read 2 pages of one chapter of a D&D book and decided the written word is overated so I am no longer going to read any books.

;)

It may not be for you but seeing a little of one episode is not enough to decide the fate of that series let alone all TV...man that is some serious pressure.

I didn't say that I was going to completely stop watching tv altogether, I just consider much of what is on television today to be a waste of time. No all of it, just some. And this is just my oppinion, I personally don't think all that highly of plastic surgeons....or of the people who pay them. :\

I agree that a lot of TV is not great and I do not like nor condone plastic surgery but the writing and character development on the show is really good. I watch for the quality factor or the you have got to be kidding factor and this show has some good acting and writing I like it. I never saw it until reruns but once I started watching a few I was hooked.

I'm not basing my oppinion on the acting or the writing. I'm sure that the acting if just fine and that the writing is probably really good, but I still don't like the topic and the who the characters are. I suppose that it would just be nice to watch a series that didn't glamourize the outer appearance so much....don't we see enough of that outside of television?

I'm with you, Hal, the show is great. I was sure I wouldn't like it -- dislike vanity plastic surgery, dislike people who are full of themselves, and don't like watching surgery -- but the show is really well done, super high quality. I'd watch a show this good about nearly anything.

The whole ganre turns me off. Many of these "reality" style shows are very well produced and entertaining (I know I have been sucked in to a few episodes), but as a matter of principle I don't watch them. I find our vanity level is shooting through the roof. From obsesivness of white teeth to surgery, it is all too much for me. Anyway, I don't have enough free time as it is.

I actually missed season one, since the previews did not grab my attention at all. Then a friend made me watch the season premier and I found myself liking it. There is a high paced wit and humor drew me in right away, though I could have done with less of the actual surgery. Since that is the topic/profession talked about though it make sense to have that stuff shown, just not my thing.

As for the topic generally, I actually find it interesting since they are adding a slight twist. Yes, you see how many people get this stuff done and how profitable it is for the doctors. It also shows that some are getting the surgery for pure vanity while others get it for more serious reasons. They also show how there are lots of people out there who want to age naturally, and they manage to show that no matter how much is done to you a person can not stop the aging process altogether.

But I am a newbie to the show, so this may just have been two episodes that appealed to me and I'll hate the rest. ::shrug:: I'll just have to keep watching and see.

Nip/Tuck isn't a reality show. It's a drama like Law & Order or The Sopranos.

I can't stand "reality" shows.
