Ah. Well, I warned you I was dumb and stubborn. A most deadly combonation.

Bah! I don't believe any of that... :) Well except for it being a deadly combination.

Anyhow... I hate to say it but this thread is off topic too. ;)

Yeah, I doubt Meg Hal will enjoy the last page of his thread, or the other thread... :o :heh:

Anyhow I’m not that hard to get in contact with, hit me up if you want too. :) (If not see ya next thread. :p )

Well, you sure tried to put me in my place. 'Tried' being the key word.
No, seriously, I didn't. Your place is wherever you want it to be.

What I did try to do is get you to recognize that you have been repeating that a show that you have not watched is about beauty and vanity. It has nothing to do with place: it has to do with trying to get you to realize what you were doing.

I'm not saying that I am an expert on the show, and I am in no way criticizing the acting, writing, directing or anything of that sort. All I am trying to do, is express my views and oppinions on the topic of the show. I personally dislike plastic surgery, but that is simply my own opinions and views. I may be ignorant in terms of the show, but I am not ignorant as far as plactic surgery itself.
I'm not trying to diss the show, just the theme.
I would suggest, then, that you not insist that the show is about beauty. If you want to insist that plastic surgery is about beauty, great, but the show isn't about plastic surgery. It's about people.

Okay, that was personal... We don't do that here, everyone can talk all about the show, you can talk all about the goods and the evils of plastic surgery but no one needs to make their attacks personal, okay?
Absolutely OK, BS. And I stand by my statement. Saying that she didn't know what she was talking about wasn't a personal attack. It was instead restating what she had already made clear earlier in the thread: she has only seen a little bit of the show, so she does not know what the show is actually like/about. Nothing personal, and in no way an insult.

Thank you, Brother Shatterstone. *sniff* At least somebody here likes me.
Good heavens that's thin skin.

I like you just fine, Enchantress. In fact if I somehow disliked you I wouldn't have put a bunch of time into trying to point out the situation. I only spend that kind of effort on people I like. I tried earlier in the thread to gently point out that you weren't really speaking from a place of knowledge and you didn't catch it, so I tried a more blunt approach.

If you were insulted or felt slighted then please know that I certainly didn't intend such and hope that you know that now.

It's not the surgery part I don't like. I'm actually not very squeemish when it comes to watching things like that. It's just the whole perfection is the answer thing that I have a problem with.

Well then, you shouldn't have trouble with Nip/Tuckl then, because the characters who look to plastic surgery to make them "perfect" usually end up having their lives suck just as much after the surgery as before. Their lives just suck a little differently.

I can understand wanting to have surgery to get rid of a growth, or grotesque scars, or something like that, its more that the lead characters seem to be, from what i've heard, greedy, selfish, and without goals or morals.

Yes, the lead characters tend to be greedy, selfish, and lacking in goals or morals. (This is not always true, but true to some extent a lot of the time). But as a result, their lives are a mess, their families are disasters, and their existence is empty and destructive. despite their wealth, they are miserable and unhappy much of the time. Of course, if you actually watched the show, you'd know that.

But that's just what I've heard, not necasarily what is true or what I should believe.

Perhaps you should form an opinion about a show after having watched it first. That's usually the best place to start. Not "what you heard" from vague sources.

FL, its real earlier in the morning here so maybe I'm jumping the gun, but I'm the mod here and not you, if you have issues with how I see things then your more than welcome to contact me offline: ftn4life@earthliink.net

I stand by my ruling; I saw it as a personal attack so drop it, along with most of the junk you said this morning, before this gets elevated okay?

Thanks,

For the record, you've confused me on this as well. How is repeating what someone has already said about their knowledge on a topic a personal attack? She said she hadn't watched the show. Fast Learner pointed out that this lack of information meant she didn't know what she was talking about. How is this a personal attack?

A few points NOT about the show...

1. Fast Learner, I think you may have missed Enchantress' smiley she put on her message. She was being facetious.

2. Brother Shatterstone is, indeed, a moderator, of our PbP forums. Even beyond that, he's a fellow poster, and for that reason alone should be accorded respect as a fellow poster, if nothing else.

3. I think the issue has gone a little far beyond what it needed to, and I really wouldn't like to see it escalate. If anyone has anything else to say about the show, fire away! Any other topics, might be better handled through e-mail or another thread in an appropriate forum. If anyone needs me, my address is in the Meta Forum.

Otherwise, ignore me and keep up the confab about the show! I've never seen it before, and have nothing but negative impressions based on the advertising, but this thread is informing me about the program, and I appreciate it!
