Still a bit confused about the numbers here. Could you break it down for us? Which numbers were compared to which?

Okeydokey. I assumed that those who couldn't hurt the agent went for the cops, and those that could went for the agent, since all of your moves targetted both . . .

Augustine takes 4 cops.
(I know that's 26, and there were only 20 cops. Just assume you each took a few. Who killed who doesn't matter, as long as who's down and who isn't. If you know what I mean. ;))
The Agent damages Veritas, 4 points of his attack are wasted.
The cops are massacred.

Does it seem any more clear now?
 


Every PC has a Matrix of 2, the Agent has a Matrix of 3, and the normal people have a Matrix of 1. So, just the kept numbers:

Spiral - 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2: keep 12
Ferret - 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2: keep 12
Path - 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2: keep 14
Veritas - 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2: keep 9
Code - 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 2: keep 11
Augustine - 1, 1, 2, 2, 2: keep 8
Agent - 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3: keep 13
Cops - 1, 1: keep 2.

The TN for the attacks is the opponant's 'keep.' If you succeed at that attack, and have points left over (Example: Path (k14) attacks the Agent (k13). 14-13=1 left over), you can apply the left over points against another character. (I just realized that Path would not have taken out a cop after he damaged the agent, he only had 1 point left over. They'd still all be gone, though.) For example, if the cops had only rolled one 1, they would have just kept 1, and Path could have used his extra point against one of them.

Is this not explained well in the .pdf? If it isn't, please tell me, so that I can edit it.

This was the part I was a bit confused by. Firstly, you said I took the damage ;) , but that's not what I'm confused about. It's the "wasted" points. I thought that if you were much higher than your opponent, you dealt multiple points of damage (i.e, Agent totaled 13, I totaled 8; I take 5 points of damage). Is it differnt because it's group combat?

If the attacker is MUCH higher than the defender, they take multiple points of damage. If the defender's total was 8, the attacker would need at least 8 points for 1 damage, at least 16 points for 2 damage, at least 24 points for 3 damage, and so on.

Since the Agent had 13 points, and you had 8, then there were 5 points left over. If another character had totalled 5, then the Agent could have applied his extra points to them.

If the defender simply took damage equal to the difference in the attacks . . . ouch. That would mean TKOs in one hit for Agents and Free Minds alike, most of the time.

For instance, suppose an Agent rolls a 18 on his attack, and targets a character that rolled a 6. The target would take 3 points of damage.

By-the-by, what is the Mind skill for? I take it Matrix is for kicking as in, Real World is for kicking ass out, and Mind is everything else? (computer use, interpesonal, etc?)

I'll do a little re-work on the .pdf. And yeah, that's basically what Mind is for.
 

Well. I saw Reloaded earlier today, and I must say . . .

I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL NOVEMBER!!!

Awesome fight scenes. Great info on Zion. Cool new, more powerful enemies. Complex plots and subplots. Still, Tank is way cooler than Link. ;)
