I'm not sure why I started a thread. Didn't really have a purpose. Just felt like posting something. I find typing gets rid of my frustrations. I like to discuss relationships, it's sort of a hobby of mine. Which is why I've enjoyed discussing some of the things recently.

I agree that it needs to be more civil and there can't be flaming. However, I'm wondering if it is forbidden to discuss relationships here now? I thought we were having a civil second conversation.

Oh well, this doesn't actually need a reply, I just needed to put down what I was thinking in words.

IMHO, it is not forbidden to discuss relationsips. However, I assume you're referring to KenM's second thread. Essentially, it was a re-start of a thread which had been closed because.... well, you can probably tell. Why have a thread which is just a rehash of an older, closed, thread?

Oh and the first thread started out civil and rapidly degraded. The mods just wanted to nip this one in the bud.

Ya, tried to send a direct message, but don't have access to, and I'm reletively new here, so I just wanted to check. It's my opinion that the new thread was different enough that it should have been kept, I was just wondering, that's all. As I said, it didn't need a reply, I just felt that in between the flaming and bickering of the old thread there was some interesting points. I just wanted to hear more of them....without the flaming.

I really figured this was why it was closed. Honestly, I was just frustrated and needed to write it down where someone else would see it. Otherwise, I keep it inside and it just puts me in a bad mood.

And don't let a closed thread keep you from posting. I've had a few of my own closed and I never thought they were "inappropriate."

Policy here at Enworld is that when a thread is closed, unless the Mod specifically says "It is okay to go ahead and open a new thread on this topic" no new threads should be created.

This allows for a cool-down period for all those involved and keeps from whatever troublesome posting that was happening from immediately flaring up again.

I'm sorry if you felt like you needed to vent or else you'd be in a bad mood or whatever, but this is not the place for it. If you want to continue the conversation with KenM, I recommend emailing or PMing him.

It's already been said somewhat, but sometimes the best thing to do after a thread is closed is to give the subject a rest for a few days, then e-mail a mod and let them know you'd like to start a discussion along the same lines.

In my experience, they have given good advice on how to proceed (or whether or not you should).

There used to be a sticky at the top of the General forum that had "da Rules." Maybe it's time to throw them back up for any new folks who don't know the policies here.
