OK, here is the official I gave up on this series thread!

I don't watch much TV at all anymore (when I moved into my house last year, I didn't even bother to get cable). The only shows I watch regularly are Lost and 24, so I guess I've given up on everything else....

Is it the American version of The Office you guys are talking about or the original English one. The English one is sitting on top of my dvd player waiting to be watched. Got both the first and second series on dvd for under $40 Australian the other day :D :D

Well, I am talking about the American one. I've watched both series of the british version and loved it though. Absolutely halarious in places.

I've gave up on Surface after one episode.
I've given up on E/R several times but my gf keeps dragging me back in.
I've almost given up on BSG because it isn't that trilling to me.
I haven't given up on South Park, though sometimes its lean.
I haven't given up on the Simpsons, though sometimes its very lean, in fact I keep hoping they'll break every TV endurance record ever.

Well, Edward James Olmos' hairpiece could qualify as one, I suppose...

Anyway, there's a site that has predictions on what shows are going to get cancelled (based on the ratings)

http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/newsletters/proginsider/index.jsp

(though that will probably change tomorrow)

Invasion: Probably picked up for full season
Night Stalker: Probably cancelled soon
Ghost Whisperer: shoo-in for a full-season renewal.
Threshold: expected full season pick-up.
My Name Is Earl: full season renewal.
Surface: on the fence.
Bones: shoo-in for a full-season renewal
Supernatural: full season renewal.

I only watch a handful of TV shows, so I've already given up on most that I was disappointed in (Simpsons, Law & Order, etc.). There are a couple of new cartoons that I tried and stopped watching:

Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo . I held on for 15 minutes, hoping that it would get better. It just got dumber. C'mon Cartoon Network, instead of airing this crap, show the final few episodes of Yu-Yu Hakusho.

GI Joe: Sigma 6. The first episode wasn't bad (a raid on an Artic Cobra base), but, before I knew it, they introduced a teen hero and his robot dog. It also has the worst theme song in cartoon history.

Samurai Champloo. I know a lot of people love this series, but it never clicked for me. It has the same meandering storytelling that Cowboy Bebop had, but I don't care anything about the characters. I was actually looking forward to this series since I like anime and love samurai movies. Samurai 7 is much better.

Hmm... I still really enjoy the original CSI, and I like CSI: NY. CSI: Miami is starting to grate, I admit, but I don't have the hate-on for it that others do, and I'm still watching it. (And BTW, I can tell you from experience that while Horatio may get annoying to watch, it's really fun to RP a character based on those mannerisms. :D)

I dropped BSG, but not because I didn't like it. I kinda like my TV to be at least a little lighter/more escapist, and BSG's pretty darn dark. I do want to watch it, but I'd rather wait until it's out on DVD and watch it all in succession.

I remember way back when, I dropped X-Files like a rock around season 5. Someone should have told Chris Carter that you have to slowly reveal the mystery, or the audience gets frustrated and stops caring. After the 87th "Here's the answer! Hah, tricked you!" I just couldn't give a damn anymore.

Sort of dropped Alias. That is, I never watched it on TV, but I saw the first three seasons on DVD, and don't think I care enough to get the fourth.

Currently watching all three CSIs, House, Criminal Minds, Without a Trace, and both Stargates. Oh, and sometimes Bones, if I'm bored before House comes on, but I have no real affection for it other than being glad that David Boreanaz is still working.

I just dropped CSI to make room for a weekly Tribe8-game. All in all a fair trade. Might start catching CSI reruns though.

I'll keep watching Desperate Housewives for awhile, at least for as long as it holds my wife's attention.

I'll stick with Lost too, although my wife dropped that one long ago.

Surface- Bad writing, kids getting punished, all creatures great sized and small except for the one that lives out of water with the kid, some are noisy some are quiet. Help me Help you......write a show "bible" and stick with it, it does not have to be so inconsistant.

Surface is the only one of the three Sci-Fi series I'm watching this season. (Broadcast series, I mean: I still love BSG, the 4400, etc.)

Yes, Surface has flaws, (Lake Bell, I'm looking at you!!), but I'm enjoying it, and that says something. They do tend to "Show, not tell" which to me to very important.

Would I like the series to be more consistent? Yes. Would I like them to use more "real" science? Yes. WOuld I like them to recast Lake Bell ASAP? Yes.

But I'm still hooked.

Now that I've defended "Surface", I can list the shows that I'm NOT watching faithfully anymore.. (Though, to be honest, I usually wait and buy or NetFlix the season sets when they come out.)

1) Gilmore Girls. LOVE Lauren Graham, but the show's strayed from it's roots.
2) The Apprentice. Bye-bye, theDonald.
3) Smallville. (Though maybe I'll watch the Aquaman episode, or get the DVD's.) They seriously need to put a Kyptonite bullet in this show.
