Old Style Rock-and-roll American Bands

Not 70's, but in the arena rock vein....I think Guns N' Roses is coming out with a new album later this year.

You mean Axle Rose, since everyone else in the band is now with Velvet Revolver.

If you just want plain old rock n' roll how about the Black Crowes or the White Stripes?

I never got into the White Stripes. The Black Crowes are good, but they seemed to have peaked with their first album and went steadily downhill after that.

Pure Prairie League... are they touring?

I thought John Fogerty owned the rights to the CCR moniker, and he's touring solo with Mellencamp.
Thought I thought I heard they were doing 3 River Fest or at least on the venue.

I never watched American Idol until this season, when my son asked me to watch it with him. Bo reminds me of so many people I grew up with here in the south, and to me, anyway, it was really refreshing to see someone who still found worth in old school rock. I was pretty let down when he didn't win. On the other hand, he's not going to suffer for coming in second. I think he's got a decent future ahead of him.

I'd rather listen to him than Carrie Underwood. I got pissed at her when she first mangled Pat Benatar's "Love Is A Battlefield". And then mangled another song I sorta like but cannot remember which one it is.

They settle all their differences or is it still gonna be minus Axl Rose?

Actually, as a huge Black Crowes fan, who has seen them several times, I'd disagree. Their first album was definately commercial. It just set them up to do what they really wanted. Their best album by far IMHO is their second. Southern Harmony and Musical Companion is a fabulous album, not a single bad track. It really showed their true colors. Nothing at all like the commercial tripe on the first album. Live, they are incredible. They are a great American band, and are on tour this summer actually.
