Real life is been a bit of a bummer at the moment: had to take the cat to the doctor this morning; the wife goes to the vets tomorrow; step-daughter arrived for holiday last sat. To top it all my computer is playing up. None of it serious, just time consuming.

Hopefully, I'll have something ready later in the week.

Keep in mind that the majority of the NPC population is human so a non-human central authority figure may face some issues. Makes for good roleplaying, though. ;)
WHAT? You mean to say my anthropomorphic donkey Cleric of Lurue, who always wanted to be a Unicorn but is actually a half donkey - half human, will be at a disadvantage?

WELL SIR I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!:lol:

But seriously though, I have a bit of a dilemma. RAW you say: Level Adjustment: +2. Note that this adjustment is added to the base animal’s racial HD to determine the creature’s ECL.

Well a Donkey has 2 HD, a Brown Bear has 4 HD. A Donkey is CR 1/6, a Brown Bear is CR 4. One will be ECL 4 the other ECL6... Not really realistic IMO. Not to mention that a party of 4 level six adventurers will plaster an anthropomorphic Brown Bear like no tomorrow. What i'm saying is that the CR is a bit high for the gain, and the base creature must be really closely evaluated.

If i take something like a Brown Bear I'll be much better than any other 1st level character. Can i do it? The adventure may very well end before my char gains even a single level. Later on though, the 6 LA will be MURDER. LA 6 races usually provide things like SLAs, SU abilities, caster progression, free feats, flight, immunities...

If i take the donkey will i be ECL 4? Well according to RAW yes, but according to power? A level 4 Wizard can one-shot the character pretty well with a Ray of Stupidity for example.

Not really sure what you're getting at, here, Myth.

CR has no effect on determing ECL and Level Adjustment and such.

An anthropomorphic by my revised rules for that template would be ECL 4 while a brown bear would be ECL 8. Using my template and animal progressions, you'd start at 1 animal HD either way (I'd have to work up an animal progression similar to the wolf progression I sent you as an example).

Yeah i got confused myself between ECL and LA.. :) OK why don't I just go for a nice plain Human Cleric :)

Seeing the party composition (gender wise) it seems we will once again have zero girls unless i roll one, right?
