OotS 408...

I concur. This strip was particularily hard for me not to see the railroading of Rich's agenda within it. It feels too forced, as if all Rich is aiming for is Miko because the fans are screaming for blood.
No way--or, maybe, this is pretty close to the reaction Rich is shooting for. I'm pretty confident that we should feel at least a little sympathy for Miko here; I certianly think in future strips we'll feel more. After all:
It's all Xykon's fault! Note Miko's incredulity: "the gods showed [her] his treachery." Who else could have given her a false and destructive vision but the lich scrying her?
And we really are seeing the worst side of Roy here: while I don't think he's unjustified in going after her, it's also not especially helpful: I have a hard time seeing him acting out of anything other than anger, mixed with a longstanding grudge.

SLASH! SLASH! SLASH!

For me, I found that joke just slightly better than the type O treasure line. Both of them are comedic gold. Can anyone remember what number the answers from the kobold sage comic is?

I've met Rich a bunch of times, and I'm comfortable saying that he's virtually impervious to popular opinion when writing the comic. This was plotted and planned a long time ago. Like it or don't, but he's definitely not scripting this to "appease fans."

Fair enough. And I do know that about Rich, too. I have often before stood up for Rich against the tide of those accusations.

I guess I just wish I didn't hear so much "Kill Miko" stuff. It bothers me, deeply ... as if it is a commentary on how much our society is built around violence and killing is justified. I'm no pacifist and I support the army/nave/air force/ marines/coast guard. It just seems that the cries for Miko's blood are getting so strong.[/Sblock]

I agree. The worst aspect of it is that he's just squandered what could have been a good opportunity to bring a powerful (even without her Paladin abilities), alienated ex-ally back onside. Instead, he has finally given her something that could at least be mistaken in a dark alley for a rational basis for her prejudices. Though somewhat understandable in the heat of the moment, that's probably the worst move he could have made at that point. And that's before we even consider the oncoming army. There's some truth to the charge someone made that he's making many of the same mistakes Miko did, albeit to a lesser degree and with a little more reason.

Still, this is pretty much a transitional strip. Which is fine, they can't all be as momentous as the last couple. But it does mean there won't be quite as much to say about it.

*yawn* raise your hand if you did not see that one coming.

It had a few funny lines in it that made me chuckle like the milk line.

I just wish Rich had done something different more unexpected.

If Belker kills her I will be very disappointed because then he will not have managed to surprise me at all.

Different strokes, I guess. I don't read OotS to be surprised, though it's a nice bonus if I am. I read it to be amused.

And Rich is pretty darn good at amusing me even without surprising me.

True. And this strip contained comedy gold... and I'm the only one who loves the title "Fallsville - Population: 1"?

Well, OotS is still a gaming-related "teh funney" strip - any interesting story is just bonus.
If I want character-development, I'll patiently wait for the next Inverloch update.

What would really surprise me is if all the main characters were killed and replaced by a coven of vampire llamas named after Donald Duck's relatives.

Me, too...although, now that you mention it, I'm almost expecting it to happen. :p

I like Miko. She's been good at propelling the storyline forward, especially her contributions to the discomfort of Cartman, er, I mean Belkar.

Who knows who he might have saved if he would've tried to help rather than attack and force her hand into believing her lie, too? The point is, we don't know.

By that logic, if there's someone who just shot and killed someone else and is still waving the gun around, the police should just let him go. After all, we don't know how many lives might be saved if the gunman is somehow redeemed, right?

I don't think so. When you just witnessed someone commit a brutal murder, you don't take chances like that. And this has nothing to do with my feelings about the character of Miko.
