Quickbeam, what I was referring to was the game today. When you were quoted by the poster previous to me, it was in reference to the game today, obviously, and since I am tired of hearing the same stuff over and over again, I thought bitching back was in order. After all, the squeaking by comment was unappropriate today. And the gloating comment regarding Ballacks ban just did the rest for me.
So, sorry for that. For one second, though, imagine being a Kraut and seeing the "funny and witty" comments of sun and likewise mindless papers over and over again... Seeing German players with steel helmets is only funny a few times, and if I have to read the word "panzer" in referrence to German soccer players again, I will puke.
So, reading the same sort of comments from some British posters in this thread was rather tiresome. And so it felt like shooting back, for me. But, like it often happens when you are shooting blindly, I hit the wrong guy.
Sorry.
(Incidentally, I did support England in the game vs. Argentinia. In my eyes, it had been high time that the "hand of god" incident got avenged.
)
Now, Ballack may be missed, but he never played up to his standards during this tournament. Apart from Kahn, I think every German player can be substituted. We still have Ricken, who, with Dortmund, had reached the Uefa Cup final, after all.
The greatest strength of the German team had been that they had a good team spirit and a readiness to run and help each other. So, in a way, it can be considered good that this time, we were going into the tournament without any big time stars. Also, it may have helped that noone expected much of this team in the first place.
This made them a very strong team in turn.
This gives them a fighting chance on sunday, too.
After all, if the teams with the best players would always be world champion, then Brazil wouldn't have been world champions 4 times but rather 14 times.
