Hi!
Here in Johnstown, Heroes 4 was out last Friday (right before Easter). I picked it up Saturday. The game is great. It looks a lot different, but once you get past that, the game is Heroes and if you enjoyed the others this version is a definite must.

There is a ton to say about the game. Is there anything in particular I could try and answer?

(gotta love a mom who plays more video games than you do!)

How does the ability to have your hero enter the battle and be a participant play in?

How is the music? I loved the HoMaM 3 music, and if it's anything like that, I'll probably grow to like it a lot.

Does the isometric battlelands enhace the gameplay for you?

Is there a necromantic town? Is it still cool? :)

One at a time...

Heroes are obscenely powerful at high levels - a party of three or four moderate to high level heroes, especially of any of the spellcasting factions (not Might), is rediculous.

Yeah, HOMM4 music is pretty much like HOMM4, but it's not in mp3 format.

Battles are actually fairly tedious IMO, especially once you get a couple of high level heroes. I've been strongly utilizing the Quick Combat feature. The lack of a grid is a little annoying, especially when you can't tell where are unit is going to move and block someone off.

There is a Death Magic town, the Necropolis, but I haven't had a chance to play them.

Questions? Lots of them....

Did they manage to balance the warrior types, so they're not wimps at the end?

Do you actually get to pick your "feats," or are you still forced to pick from a random two choices?

What's the story line behind the fourth edition? (And, is there an official site?)

Now I just have to wait for Master Of Orion 3....

I don't have it yet, ebworld has shipped mine, should be here on monday or tuesday (hopefully). Looks great, as for leveling up, i think you have 3 choices instead of two, and that what choices pops up is dependant on your class / starting class / advanced class in some way. (for instance, an archer will get more combat "feats" than a cleric, right? but there is the percentage chance that the cleric will get "tactics" or whatever)

the music is a mix of heroes 3 and heroes 2, from what i've read. the multiplayer is limited, but hopefully that'll change with a patch (and hopefully a grid will be in the patch too, making combat a bit easier for those of us who always used that grid thing, like me).

all the heroes of the same class start off the same (so no more guys which start off with "logistics" as their speciality (giving them a +5% bonus to logistics each level), or people who grant you +1 resource / turn), but through the advanced classes you gain things. (an archer who learns scouting becomes a ranger, and as a ranger, gets a +5 to their ranged attack)

seems like a whole lot of fun, too bad i don't have mine yet! (well, at least i have my ex pack for The Sims to tide me over . . . how sissy is that? lol)
