[OT/Humor] What's your "Holy Grail"?

Every gaming group has one. A TV show, movie, or comedy sketch that gets referenced all the time at the table. Maybe you yell "Message for you, Sir!" every time you get hit by an arrow. Maybe you say "D'oh!" in your best Homer Simpson voice every time you fumble. Or maybe, every time the DM pulls out the campaign setting map, you say "It's the nicest weather Faerun's ever had!" with your best Crow T. Robot impression.

What's your favorite game-derailling pop culture reference?

Well, The Simpsons are very popular around our table, but the most popular thing lately is to take things that people say, and turn it back on them, followed with a collective, "Ooooooooooh." It's very immature, and that's why it's so fun. For example:

Player 1: "I am headed to the local tavern to try and hear what the word on the street is."

Player 2: "I'll street YOU!"

Whole group: "Ooooooooooh!"

You see, you take some word from within their statement, preferably not a verb, and turn in into a verb for use against them. It's great fun...

(And now, if someone wants to be clever, they can respond to this by saying, "I'll clever YOU!", or something like that...) See how it works?

Childish? Yes. Immature? Definitely. Annoying? Probably. Hungry? Yes, I am.

Occasionally, the group spontaneously bursts out singing "Always Look at the Bright Side of Life". The Dead Alewives' comedy sketches are also often quoted. The biggest thing, though, has to be quotes from the Black Isle AD&D games. I can't explain it... we can spend hours just launching lines from Xan and Dak'kon at each other.

Funny, you already mentioned one of ours. We do a LOT of Monty Python quoting. And "Message for you sir!" followed by a "I'm uh...not quite dead sir!" are very very common. :)

The bards in different parties constantly say : "How You doing" with a dumb smirk on their facesand in a really bad Joey impression. To whatever quasi-female creature appearing in front of them.

Lately, a whole lot of Pirates of the Carribean lines. In general, just a lot of humor that would make Eric's grandma blush with embarassment.

In my old group, there was always a lot of quoting of Army of Darkness. One of the wizards always referred to his Wand of Fireballs as his "boomstick"

Ours actually came from a game. The dwarven hero Grum was a drinker and former player. His nickname was Grum the Stout, as he was the only character to not ever go below zero hps I've seen. It became the drinking salute. Even in games not in that world, people still say "Grum the Stout" and everyone at the table takes a drink.

Blah blah blah -- I'll street you! -- blah.

I do this in just normal, day-to-day conversation. :D

I rarely have a face-to-face group, but the last one I had would always manage to create a scenario in which hydroplaning Dwarven stiltsmen could be introduced. The HDS come from a game in which the PCs couldn't fathom a 15 foot tall Dwarven hallway. Basically, I said they had stilts, jokingly, and when they realized the floors were moist -- yeah.

So, an example:

Dave: "You're making you way down the King's Highway, the leaves giving a nice, crisp scent to the surroundings.
Clay: "Is it raining?"
Dave: "A little drizzle, like earlier -- why?"
Evan: "Well, see, these branches could easily be made into-"
Keith: "Stilts?!"
Dave: *sigh*
