[OT] I hereby declare it to be BBQ season!

Mmmmm...

Bratwurst soaked in good thick beer overnight grilled to perfection and served with sauerkraut (must be the kind with carrowy seeds) and brown mustard.

It's taken me almost 5 years, but I've finally perfected the knack of grilling brats and sausages so that they're cooked all the way through without getting burnt black on the outside.

And barbequeing does not necessarily require "barbeque" sauce... though the sauce doesn't hurt.

Main Entry: 1bar·be·cue
Pronunciation: 'bär-bi-"kyü
Function: transitive verb
Inflected Form(s): -cued; -cu·ing
Date: 1690
1 : to roast or broil on a rack over hot coals or on a revolving spit before or over a source of heat
2 : to cook in a highly seasoned vinegar sauce
- bar·be·cu·er noun

Dunno about this marinating and sauce stuff.

I usually throw meat on the BBQ, burn it until it stops screaming, drink a load of beer for flavour and the tomato sauce comes later slopped all over it to cover the taste of charchol.

Then again, Australia has no real culture... But we do have real beer with lots of 'get you wrecked' alcohol content :D

(which is the primary purpose of the BBQ)

Trust me on this one.

When do you move? Oh, I'm running a d20 Modern game at Pandemonium later this month, if you're interested.

hey, I have mastered the one true way of the lamb! rosemary. garlic and red wine all the way...

As for moving, thats up to the mortgage company but hopefully sometime in may. ;)

gaming exists once more at pandemonium? I'm supposedly the tuesday proctor and I'd given up... (kahuna hasn't gamed since arisia... getting twitchy....)

Damn!

Damn, I thought it was pot roast day; I don't think this chuck roast will work on our grill. Oh, well there are worst things than a slow-cooked pot roast w/potatoes and carrots, cooked w/whatever spices are on hand and a little beer.

Besides, we've got 10 months of BBQ season down here so I'm sure I'll catch up to you at some point PC :).

For lamb or (better yet) venison:

Red wine, garlic (fresh), marjoram (Normaly it's a chicken thing, but it works for gamey meats too I find), a bit of lemon, a bit of orange, and either some juniper berries (if you can get them) or gin (If you can't). Soak overnight. Leave the meat on the rareish side so that it stays nice and juicey.

It's never as good as right after you finished butchering the deer, but it still works... But I tell ya... nothing ends a good summer/fall better than a nice fresh deer roast...

Anyone want to share any bbq recipes? :D

I don't have any BBQ recipes to share, but I'd love to share your BBQ, as I don't own one... yet. :(

My flatmate told me that when he left the flat this morning, he actually felt the temperature go up. :D

Yup, London has finally emerged as a warm place again.
