Before I make any specific replies, let me make a few observations regarding this series, the playoffs in general, and last night's game.
1) The Wings have lost 7 games total in the playoffs thus far, and four of them have been at home in OT. While it's nice to see that they've kept themselves in the games played at JLA, losing all four OT games there is
UNACCEPTABLE!! Fortunately, I've only had to sit thru one of those losses in person.
2) Carolina played great considering the week-long layoff, and their resiliency throughout the playoffs has been amazing.
3) Detroit played a marginal game at still could have won. That reality still has me believing the Wings can win in five.
Welverin:
LOL. I hope you're right

Nightfall:
Thanks for the good luck wishes! And of course I remember the brutal sweep Philly suffered at the hands of my Wings in 1997. It was our first Cup in 42 years...you don't forget things like that.
skulrik:
You go from rooting for the Habs, to cheering on the 'Canes?!? What the %&$#@! is up with that?!? You are a strange bird my friend...and likely to be disappointed yet again this playoff year.
Reprisal et al:
Never, ever, compare the Red Wings to the Yankees

. As tleilaxu points out, the Canadiens are far closer to the Yankees than the Red Wings. Furthermore, other than Hasek and Hull (Robitaille hasn't played a big role yet) who did Detroit buy? What about the Avs last year? Did you all hate Colorado when they rented Bourque and Blake, then added Kasparitis this season? How about the Rangers and Devils and Flyers, all of whom have comparable payrolls and have made waaayy more roster changes in the past five seasons than Detroit?
Hate the Wings all you want, after all it's your prerogative. But at least hate them for valid and accurate reasons. Many of Detroit's core players have been here for quite some time, and five of Detroit's Hall of Famers (Yzerman, Federov, Lidstrom, Shanahan, Larionov) have been here at least six years...if not their entire careers. That's not buying anything folks, that's just good management, coaching and player development!!
Tom:
Trottier has too much class to pull a stunt like that, or even find himself associated with such shenanigans. He'll do a fine job with the Rangers
IF they can settle on a roster, and close the revolving door for personnel at Madison Square Gardens.
Chairman:
ROFL
tleilaxu:
Yzerman is the best captain of his generation, period. He may be one of the two or three best of all time. And BTW, thanks for your timely remarks

.
Josh:
I'm with you man. Sorry that you had to witness a loss in person. My father went with a buddy of his last night, because I had a Board meeting that was mandatory -- damn their poor planning

!! Hopefully I'll be at Game 2 tomorrow night.
