[OT] You're so vain...

It could also be that all these men who would assume it was about them were the reason its never really clear (until the Janet remake I guess).

Well said, Skade.

I think that's highly likely.

As for Jack Nicholson - is there anybody he wasn't "involved" with in the 70's?

Apparently he also "spent time" with Michelle Phillips (Mamas and teh Papas).

Though I'm guessing he and Mama Cass were just friends...

My scarf is most definitely not apricot...

heh - good point. :)

To clarify, I think it IS about Nicholson, but Taylor (and/or Beaty) is supposed to think it's about him.

You guys have it all wrong. Its about the author, and how the subject of the song made her feel. The one who is vain, however, is indeed Warren Beatty.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't do that to me, man. I'm in an internet cafe.

Speaking of Nicholson, I had the following conversation with my sister a couple of years ago (when she was 17). IIRC, we were watching 'As Good as it Gets':

Me: Y'know, I saw a high-school yearbook photo of Jack somewhere once. He used to be pretty good looking.

My sister: He still is.

Me:
